I am getting a Novak 5800. Can you guys give me some tips on it? Can I DL instructions for it somewhere? Will it run good in a stadium or sedan? What kind of speeds does it put out? I just don't know boo about them.

Thanks!

You can download instructions at www.teamnovak.com. It will run great any 1/10 scale vehicle. Just watch the temps. On 6 cells, expect speeds of 30-35 mph in an ST and 34-38 mph in a sedan.

How many cells will it handle?
I think I'll try a 6 and 7 cell gp3300 packs

Where does the 5800 fall in comparison to all the other BL systems out?

It can handle up to 7 cells. Compared to other brushless motors the ss5800 (8.5 turns) is one of the weakest. Most say it's equal to a 13-17 turn brushed motor. The novak gtb/velociti combos are certainly faster ranging from 7.5 down to 3.5 turns, but the gtb esc can only handle 6 cells. The 3.5, which hasn't been released yet, is probably the fastest motor for 6 cells. The absolute fastest systems are the high powered sensorless systems like the mamba max that can handle more cells and lipo.

I've been running it in my T4 for a while and it's been great. It's got just the right amount of power for the track I run. I've been craving more power lately so I upgraded to the Mamba Max in the T4 and am moving the SS5800 over to my TC4. It seems better suited in the touring car.

I'd suggest you shoe goo the motor mount holes you aren't using and keep your bearings lubed. I've went through 2 bearings in less than a year which caused some damage. The last time the bearing went out it somehow fried my ESC. Anyway, I have to take the blame for that as I never lubed them.

If you just want to eeck a bit more out of that 5800, try a nice 2S Lipo pack. The voltage is within range for either the SuperSport or the GTB and you'll really notice a nice added punch, because Lipos don't drop voltage like nimh does under a load.

Unless you're an expert driver, it's likely that the 5800 will have more power than you can handle on a track. If you are just bashig and want crazy fast, go with a Mamba Max system. After I got my Mamba Max 7700 in my T4 and ran it, I sold my Novak 5.5r/GTB combo. It wasn't even close.

Well I got it and ran it in my stadium truck. It's OK but not as crazy as I'd hoped it to be (like my Comp X rc18t). Not very torquey but it's got good top speed, so I think it would be real fun on a dirt track but not enough umph for the street IMHO. I think I need a better charger for the gp3300 too.
A sedan would probably be better...
