The Star 45 is a hard chine hull radio controlled; semi-scale, sailing model. The 45 inch long Model Star 45 is based on the full size International Star Class! This medium-sized model yacht may be scratch built using plans available from the AMYA www.modelyacht.org/ and laser cut parts.
With the availability of laser cut bulkheads/templates this Star-45 has become a terrific first sailing model and one lending itself to a family project. For those modelers looking for an established racing model give the Star 45 a try. Here is a great little sailing model dating back to the 1960's and going strong in 2006.
A terrific blog is available filled with construction details and photographs to aid both novice and experienced modelbuilder. Plus members of the AMYA Star 45 class have a discussion forum to support you. CAD templates for making laser cut shadows/bulkheads are free downloads from the blog http://star-45.blogspot.com/
And you can easily find experienced help on The Star 45 discussion forum is at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Star45/
