Whats the best brushless system for my Midnight pumpkin i can run either the 540can size or 380can size either would be with a 10 tooth pinion so not much stress on motor want to only run a 6cell 7.2 battery if thats possilbe
best for application cheapest would even go used if i could find one.
and if anyone had one forsale PM me i'm working on limited funds due to being out of work (dislocated sholder) but know little about these systems and need help figuring out what i need

I've had the Novak SS5800 in a Tamiya Lunchbox (same as Pumpkin with different body) with a 7.2v 6 Cell battery. Way too fast for the poor 'box. Lots of fun. Used the stock pinion, and had no overheating or other power related issues. Drivetrain was strong enough to handle it.
You can get a refurb direct from Novak for 160. Generally go for 120-140 on ebay.

For a truck like that I would get the Novak Super stock system (ss4300/10.5). It's nice and fun (about like a 19 turn) and wouldn't be ovebearing or as hard on the drive-train.
Right now it's the cheapest BL system on the market. At Tower hobbies, you can get it brand new for $169, PLUS you can get $20 dollars off by entering the code on the home page. That comes out to $149 plus shipping.

..................unless a regular Feigao 380 would mount up.......then you are looking at a $132 system. The Novak is probably the easiest plug and play though.

Wow, I hadn't heard about that Jamie, sounds like an excellent deal.
Which combo is that? I may have to pick one up, I have one car left that's not BL. :)

is the feigao 380 the same size as a brushed 380 can motor? if so it would mount up no porblem since i have the 380 adaptor from a grasshopper.
Also is this the same type of brushless used in the mini type monster trucks?
do the mini m/t's use the 380 type motors?

Yes....I am refering to the nonfinned can versions that are 27mm diameter and use closer spaced mounting holes than a 540. I have a few on scratch and dent clearance (just some slight external blemishes) for $30. The Mtroniks Sport is on sale for $102. The only other issue is that the shaft only extends 3/8" past the front of the motor, so be sure you can mount a pinion and get it to mesh. The mini monster trucks use smaller 20-24mm diameter brushless motors. These are similar to a Speed 400 in size.
