Guys,
I have been looking for a new nitro onroad car and mugen mtx-4 comes to mind, is this car can be used for bashing purposes only or its pretty much for racing and since its a belt drive how often do you change the belts on this cars?
I am a basher not a racer, will run this on a parking lot.

The Mugen MTX4 is a great car, and even though it could be used for bashing, you would be better off keeping this type of car on the track.
Mugen MTX4,Kyosho RRR, Serpent, 710,or 720,Ofna CD3,or LD3, are more suited for tracks, than for bashing around.
Even though they can take a fairly good impact,<say a curb,or another type of object in a parking lot>, there are more durable type cars that you can pick-up for much less, and even be RTR.
I strickly run Mugen, Kyosho, and Ofna, and would never even dream of running my cars in a parking lot.
If you price out a new MTX4, for around $400.00, <you can get them cheaper at times>,a new pipe, servos, receiver, body, you can easily hit around $700.00, and this is just for your basic items.
My engines alone run close to $430.00, so I have close to $1,400.00 into some of my 10th scale cars, and would never put it down in a lot for bashing.

you can also look at a R40 for about $250 and a G4S for about $350

The MTX-4 is not a bashers car and costs quite a bit to build.
I have the older MTX-3 and because I spent about $600.00 bucks on the kit, Engine, battery pack and radio system then another $300.00 on support equipment such as the starter box, Battery charger, Gel Cell battery for the starter, and Hudy Setup board to adjust the suspension.
I do not run it anywhere except a clean asphault track or concrete parking lot. I do have parking lot that I bash in once in awhile in my area but it is concrete and I walk it before I run to clean it up.
The foam tires alone will cost about $40.00 bucks to replace and they wear out very quick on a parking lot. I can go a season on one set of tires only because I do not shave them down for better handling.
For bashing unless you have a lot of cash to spend I would go with an RTR.
Such as the Traxxas 4Tec or AE NTC-3 these are better suited for bashing and cost as much as a kit without the engine, starter box, radio system, battery packs and other stuff you need to build the kit. I found out real quick that the allen wrenches in the kit stripped out when building the kit then purchased $50.00 bucks worth of tools to build it to make my life easier. Another $170.00 on a Hudy board suspension setup kit.

Tires dont cost $40 a set, you can find good quality sets for about $20.
