Either one is going to offer insane speed. I'd personally get the Mamba over the Novak, but that's mainly because of the programmability and CC's superior customer support.

They should be very comparable in speed, but I don't know which is really faster. The 3.5 should be faster according to its Kv rating, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be faster due to torque.

Mamba 7700 all the way. It's really fast, doesn't have thermal problems, and the people are CC are great.

:D

I'd love to have either :) Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but both would instantly convert your car into one mean, green (or orange) speed machine

Would be an awesome race with one vs the other in two of the same cars :)

Dave I have a 4.5r in my TC4 and wow its amazingly fast no GPS or radar during the run but with the setup in my T3 I was getting 47 mph average on 6 cells in the TC4 I wanted to try a speed run so I put on a 23/72 that was the biggest pinion I had with me at the time and wow it just seemed scary fast :wow: compared to the 9T that I had been running .both the GTB and the motor were very cool to the touch I have not had any thermaling issues with my setups. I just received my backorder nickeled rotor. Charlie said that it will produce even more torque which it diffentantly doesnt need and better braking than the stocker I couldnt hammer it from the start without spinning out so I would have to get it there from half throttle and then let er rip. Just from the run Im guessing mid to upper 50MPH easily . the car has buttery smooth diffs and newly cleaned bearings the the lash on the gearing is set perfect. So I have very little drag. hope that helps. Scott

Highly recommend a Mamba Max...

Great customer service and support. Software configurable ESC is nice with free firmware upgrades. Just dropped a Mamba Max 7700 in my TC4 with a 2s LiPo. The 72T spur and a 24T pinion installed provided jaw-dropping speed. Temperature of the engine never hits over 123 F. Can't stop smiling when I'm driving it. :)

Funny...

I have used Novak escs for almost 20 years and they have always had good service. They don't give out freebies but they treat you fair and get stuff done in good time.

Castle service has been excellent, and it's not hard to see that... in fact, they might have the best reputation of any r/c company.

So the CC bashers are a very very small minority.

CC has fixed something for me already and didn't charge me even though I told them it was my fault.

When the Mamba Max's were still on backorder my ESC went out. CC told me they would send one out to me with a prepaid envelope to send mine back as soon as the next batch was ready. That was on a Friday... I received the new one Monday! If that isn't customer support I don't know what is. My experience with Novak has been much less than desireable, but I'll save that rant for later.

After the customer support Castle Creations has provided for me, I can't help but defend them. Also, Shawn Palmer frequents this board and makes himself available for factory answers. I don't see Novak or LRP doing that.

That's the stuff that has given CC their great reputation.

It's no accident I said Novak has good service... but Castle has excellent service.

CharlieS (see above) speaks for Novak and often frequents these boards, and has for years....

Does the GTB 3.5 system have thermal problems?

Mmm, I see. I must say that, while I don't doubt your sincerity, I'm not surprised that a 3.5 turn (!!!) brushless motor system is getting hot from being raced offroad. I would never run such a motor in an offroad vehicle, wrong powerband. Too inefficient. Unless your fellow racers know something I don't. :)

People are having thermal problems with their mamba max systems too.

Who's thermalling a MM? I can't imagine thermalling a MM in 5 minutes. If you can, then no other controller would survive in that setup either..... imo :)
