Hello all, I am currently in the planning stages of a brushless truck. I am going to go with a 540-12s and the Mamba Max ESC. I am assuming this will be enough for a light weight truck. But my main problem is deciding on the number of cells. Do these brushless have a minimum required voltage? Because my chassis is a little tight on the battery compartment, and it would be "cleaner" to go with a 4 cell pack. But I don't mind doing the 6 cell either. I was just wondering if the motor would run on 4 cells? The cells will be matched 3700's. :)
Thank,
Jackson

What truck is it? There's no minimum voltage level for brushless motors (there might be for the ESC), but the higher the voltage, the greater the power output and the more fun it is.
The 12s is meant to run on 10 cells minimum to perform decently. You should look at other faster motors for 4/6 cells.

It's going to be for a Tamiya TLT. I am more after the looks then anything really. Just wanted a purple Feigao motor to go along with the theme. What motor do you recommend?

If you want purple, the 540 8s will run ok on 6 cells. Find it at www.rc-monster.com. Slightly purple are the novak velociti motors, which will perform much better than the 8s. Try a 6.5r or 7.5r.

Thanks! I will do some more research before I decide which motor to go with. But cell count is pretty much stuck at 6 cells right?

Ok, I got my pack built guys, just deciding on a motor/ESC combo right now. :)

I do have one 540-8S left not listed on the site that I could give a good deal on.
