I started this scratch build about 20 years ago...and lost the wing in the process (bought house and moved, don't know where it went!). Used a PT-40 wing, modded it quite a bit. I've got s slideshow that covers the last part of the build/rebuild... check it out at:

Thanks, the foreman is a lot of fun, too. She goes to the field (went today!) with me, goes to work with us every day (we own our own business @ Scootworks.com), and pretty much everywhere else we go.
As for the bird, It's a lot of fun to fly. I'm having some trouble with ground handling, but once it's in the air, all is well. I've moved the main gear back, changed the angle of the tail wheel, etc..but it's still kinda "doggy" on the ground. Gonna change to a metal main gear so I can put a little "toe-in" in the wheels, and go to a larger tail wheel. Once this ground handling issue is resolved, I'll be happy.

Thanks, I get a kick out of the photography, when I look back at stuff like this later. A quick update, upon the recommendation of fellow RDRC club member Bob Richards (designer of the Ms. Martha and previous NATS champion), I raised the tail of the plane a little by going to a larger tail wheel. This made all the difference in the world, and the plane is now much more managable on the ground. Hope that helps someone with a tail dragger that ground loops like mine did!

...another update...it's now November 26. The H-Ray has a bunch of time on it, and I love it! Loads of fun, I can snatch it around like crazy, spin the fool thing silly, etc. No flutter, it'll turn on a dime, has a nice approach on landing, and will fly straight up until I can't see it. Get this, it weighs in at 8 POUNDS. Heavy, I know, but it's tough as nails and fun to fly.
