Motor Solder tab question

I just got a 13.5 stock brushless recently. I am in the process of getting it installed and was wondering about these solder tabs. What is the best place to do the soldering? On the top of the tabs or on the back. The inside looks to have some plastic over them so I guess I can't do it there. Thanks in advance.

That's the novak, right? If you get the motor/esc kit, they're soldered on the top of the tabs, with the wires parallel to the motor can.
