PARENTERAL ADVISE: Brushless world is totally unknown to me.... I am really a brushless noobie.... In my life, I had my hands always full of greases, and my liver full of nitro....so that clean world is scaring me :D

ok.... Just installed it..... and..... first problem....

Electronics description:

Sanwa M11+ Spektrum+JR steering servo+Novak GTB+velocity 5.5 + Sanyo 2400NICD

Sanwa M11 settings:
TH no reverse: NORMAL
TH EPA 140%
BR EPA 160%

The first time I turn the system on, motor start at full speed...... so I turn off immediatly..... Then I turn on it again.... and again and again ....BUT each time

motor doesn't run... no led blinking... only steering servo work.......
impossible to program one touch ESC, GTB is not answering......

brain underpressure mode stand by :D

Then..... after 4 hours..... I turn the system on..... again motor at full speed..... turn off...
turn on..... only steering move.....impossible to program one touch ESC, GTB is not answering......no led blinking

brain underpressure mode on :D

May be GTB is going in a protected mode? May be a conflict with spektrum module? May be something wrong with my Radio? May be I have to wait the next 4 hours and try first to program ESC? May be EPA140% is too much?

May be it is a stupid problem........ but...... help me pls......

Ok after 4 hours I put the EPA at 100% and connected the battery and made 5.5 setup at first..... WOOOOOW finally it worked.... :)

Then I had the bad idea to put the throttle EPA at 140% (why I did that..... dunno, I have no idea of what I am doing :( )..... and al stopped again......

I have to disconnect the battery and wait again 4 hours to let it start?....... :(

Using more than 100% EPA is pointless with electronics. If you set it to 100%, and calibrate the ESC with them both set at 100%, you will have maximum available power. Turning it up to 140% will not gain you any power, and I suspect maybe turning the TH EPA up moves the neutral point, so the throttle is already part engaged without you touching it.

Try setting them both back to 100%, re-calibrating the ESC, and seeing what happens. The EPA can only be used for dialing out power (i.e. setting it to 50% for approx half power), not for gaining it.

Btw the battery your using is insufficent to get max power out the GTB system. Will work fine of course, but if you find the battery gets hot, or you just want a nice big power boost, upgrade to a GP3700+ battery, and switch to Deans Ultra plugs.

Thanks for Your answer,

I called by phone the Italian dealer.
He told me That using Spektrum with Novak 5.5, it need an auxiliary on/off switch for the BEC....

so You can turn the radio side first, and ESC after....

because It seems to confuse the speedo if its trying to centre the stick while the spectrum is finding a channel

that's crazy!!!!!!!!!

However, my 5.5 doesn't work with a 40mhz receiver too (tested few mins ago)

I think I need to ship it back to the factory

Im running: M11 w/ Spektrum Pro, Hitec or Airtronics High Torque servos, Matched 3800's or Matched 3300's, and 2 Novak 5.5's(one is in a XX-4 and the other has JUST been put in a XXX-CR :D) I have had no problems seting my radio/receiver/esc while using spektrum so I dont think you need an external on/off switch. Ive been running mine in my two XX-4's and I have yet to have a problem(knock on wood :) ) for the past two months. Id keep the EPA to 100% because as stated...it doesnt do anything on electric vehicles.

Just in case: Dont forget you have to hold down the setup button BEFORE you turn on the ESC. Once a solid red light comes on you hold full throttle, when solid green comes on you hold full brake, when blinking green comes on you let it go back to neutral.

You might have done the above but i just want to make sure as sometimes I thought i was doing it right only to read it yet again and realized i was doing it wrong.

Good Luck!!!

James

also, when you program different modes you have to complete the programing by holding the button until the lights are on solid and not flashing, then you'll get a strobe responce and you're done. If you mess up at any point in the programing of novak, you have to turn it off and start over.
