Here’s your first look at Kyosho’s long-anticipated nitro mini buggy. Standout features include an aluminum chassis with “diff bulges,” Sirio .09 engine, plastic-body oil shocks, metal-gear drivetrain, oil-filled diffs and full bearings. The tiny tank holds 38cc, plenty for long run times. The ReadySet combo includes metal-gear servos and Perfex KT-3 radio, and Kyosho already has options lined up including a 2-speed trany, multi-disc brake and suspension parts.

E-mail R/C Champ, they are simply awesome! They get things way before we do here in the USA and much cheaper (Although shipping is around $40) but they ship fast. I ordered a Tamiya Kit on Saturday and received in Texas Tuesday!!! E-mail Hirotaka and he will let you know if they are out yet.

If you have one why is not even listed on the Kyosho website or that nobody has even listed one on Ebay which all sellers in Japan do as soon as they are available, Jr-RC, Stella??

Perhaps you have the IRC Vulcan or Acme NB16?

how can u not want one of these :). I am sure some BL setups are faster and lighter but just the idea of a good performing mini nitro thats brought to you buy kyosho (or other reputable CO) makes it exciting. Its just a matter of time before these take over the 1/8th scale scene, JK :)

Looks sweet and seems like they put some time into it. I like how this lil bugger came together - looks nice 2 me :)

It's a pretty interesting machine. The engine is very strong and has a lot of potential to go even faster. I would estimate the speed around 35 mph, but that's an educated guess. It's got quite a few changes to the drivetrain to handle the power of the big engine (relatively speaking). Unlike other nitro minis that are poor copies of the Kyosho Mini Inferno's electric drivetrain and suspension, this machine has a drivetrain built to handle lots of power - possibly there is something also here for the big brushless motor enthusiast. There is no other car that's currently available that looks like it will handle more power than this machine.

The worldwise release date of the car is November 1. It's a little while from now, but it gives the engineers some breathing room to finished the final details and to test it extensively.

I've been searching the net all night for which 1/18th scale buggy to buy, and just stumbled on this thread. I've always wanted a kyosho 1/8th scale since the MP3's came out, but with their price and no where to race around here I never did get one. Now that I've seen this I will be putting aside money every week until this thing releases... can't wait, my decission has just been made.

Yes, the Mini Inferno 09 will be released worldwide on the first of November. We've been running the prototypes and I imagine some of you might expect me to say this, but this is going to be the most awesome nitro mini on the market. The drivetrain has metal ring and pinion gears, metal interal diff gears, and full ball bearings. It has very smooth, fast and powerful metal gear servos and it includes a Ni-MH receiver battery pack. The Sirio engine runs very smoothly and has gobs of power. It spins the wheels easily on pavement and pushes the top speed up to 35 mph. Considering that a competition 1/8 buggy tops out in the low 40's, this is quite impressive for something half the size. Granted the 1/8 buggy gets up to speed a little more quickly, but 35 mph when geared for running on a small track is pretty fast. A change in gear ratio will certainly push the 09 even faster if that's what you're after, but the speed out of the box is very good considering the gear ratio is chosen for track performance. A starter box is also included with the 09 that uses a single 6-cell battery pack. It makes starting a breeze.

There are engine manufacturers that confuse the issue of engine size by jumping back and forth between cubic inches and cubic centimeters, so let me say that the 09 is 09 cubic inches, NOT cubic centimeters. The Sirio 09 is 1.5cc of displacement.

The 09 will probably be more expensive than most because there is so much more built in quality than the other clones already on the market, but I'm pretty confident and excited about this car given my own experiences with our testing so far. The 09 is going to be well worth the price in my opinion given the cost and questionable quality of some of the other products on the market. Let me know if you have any questions about the 09.

Thanks for the update, is there any plans to release a nitro version of the ST? I read above that the parts will swap out, but was wondering all the same.

Apperantly back when the revealed the EP Mini Inferno with the green nitro-type heatsink head, not letting the body off the car, they didn't do it for nothing, ended up to have this tiny nitro as well.
Looks good!

That would be interesting to see if people toss crazy brushless setups in this mini.

If there's one thing bugging me right now, it's the fact that we have all these options for crazy brushless power and all the electric cars (1/10th and 1/18th) really aren't built to handle the power. They'll work, but the anemic drivetrains don't wear well.

I think a good aftermarket company needs to make super strong drive train parts for popular bashing and racing electric vehicles. Brushless power options are already too much for most.

I know electric are fast, have instant torque and power but in my opinion they just do not have any soul. I guess I am just from the old school. I am not knocking them they just are not for me unless I am running on my RCP track in the house with my F1 Mini-Z’s do to the weather being to bad out side to run my nitro. I do have some bigger electric but just do not run them much.

MAD_KAW
09-15-2006, 12:38 AM
I read in one of the mags that the 09 will be just a hair longer than the electric version, but is the body going to be the same, or is this slightly bigger as well? Any info greatly appreciated so I can get started painting up a Proline body before it hits my LHS! Not to impressed w/ graphics scheme of the body in pics, hopefully that is not the only one.

i like the xray truck better it has more quality parts and fit/ finish is better than the kyosho electric version.my friend owns the xray i drove it.it is very fast almost to fast.xray is coming out with a buggy version soon.i will wait for that.

StevePond
09-16-2006, 03:34 AM
Mad Kaw - the nitro version is about 12mm longer and the body is different. We're going to have clear bodies for the nitro version as well.

Dace - no, I didn't forget about anyone. The 09 is a very different and very high quality machine. I like XRay products and I'm sure that they have a great truck, but this is a different class of car and I'm confident that it'll outshine anything else that's on the market right out of the box. Everyone can make up their own mind about what they think is best, but every who has driven the prototype 09 AND all other nitro minis on the market have said that the 09 is much better. Like I said, be your own judge once you get a chance to try them both. ;)

Go to Kyosho of America and in find a dealer see what you can find or either email them and ask. The reason Towers does not carry Kyosho any more is because up until they open Kyosho of America Towers was the importer or should I say Great Plains, which is the same difference.

I just picked up a new 09 this week and it's AWESOME. I just pulled it out of the box, charged the reciever battery pack and fired it up. The starter box is already set-up so I just put the car on it, attached my own glow igniter (the included one that takes two batteries is OK but not as good as a rechargeable one) and it fired up in about two seconds. I didn't have to touch the needles and it was running strong after warming up for a minute. It's extremely fast and holds up very well so far. I've crashed it hard many times and it's all still in one piece, but I have a lot more bashing to do. So far it's definitely worth it.

Hi, I know this forum is a little quite at the moment, but I have just bought one of these great little cars, and I cant believe how well it goes after my MB 16, The thing is I ran 10 tanks through it on the starter box with the main needle out 3 turns then round a track at the same setting, seems to run fine but its lost a little compression  cant believe I have run it to lean because the manual says start at 3 turns then lean that out. Am I expecting the compression to be higher ? as I am used to 21 size motors, maybe it was just the pinch at the top I was feeling and now its run in its just purely the compression ? the tickover goes up and down a bit when its hot but it does not stall. Been using 25% Dynaglow Model technics.
Thanks.
Steve.

I have always run mine a little on the rich side. I haven't noticed any compression loss in mine since I have had it. I have never heard of that brand of fuel.

Model Technics have been around in the UK for a long while, Dynaglow is as I believe is a synthetic oil based fuel with no carstor oil, I heard these little motors dont like an oily fuel.
