Is the hanger 9 funtana s40 a good flying plane for a intermediate pilot that owns/flys 3D planes? And this will be my first nitro plane to.

I think you are capable of flying it but electric planes fly a bit different than nitro. I think you should find an instructor.

You should heed hobbico99's advice, kingsnake93. Learning how to safely operate, tune, and maintain nitro/glow engines is a discipline in and of itself. Learning how to handle nitro powered airplanes while flying a particular aircraft at the edge of your flying abilities could prove to be a handful.

Many towns allow the flight of electric aircraft just about anywhere, while glow-powered aircraft are usually restricted to specified airfields only. Most nitro/glow pilots join the AMA, either because it is required to fly at their local glow-powered friendly air fields, or because they want to take advantage of the AMA's liability and medical insurance coverage provided to its members.

I heartily encourage you to take the leap into nitro/glow flying, it's an absolute hoot! By finding a local club and/or flight instructor to help you get going as hobbico99 suggests, you're far less likely to struggle with the new challenges you'll face and you'll have more fun more quickly than if you set out on your own.

Good luck, and let us know how you're loving your new Funtana!

Great! Do you have a buddy at the club who is an experienced nitro pilot that you trust? Take the Funtana up on a buddy box for a few flights. It's a great way to get familiar with a new airframe.

Since you've been flying 3D electrics, you won't have any trouble handling the airframe. Getting used to the difference in throttle response and protecting your plane while tuning/breaking in the glow engine will be quite helpful.

well about the buddy box. I have the spectrum Dx6 and no one else has that. so no I have no buddy box. and yes, I have a expierenced glow pilot I trust. He is the head guy of Raleigh Aero Masters. Which I go to.
