hobby class RTR electric's for $120 with battery, nitro for $210

hmmmmm. something seems a tad fishy here. Can you please include pics of your car, if possible? chassis shots, ect. I am very interested in seeing who they are copying..

It's another Tamiya rip-off, similar to the HaiBoxIng, I highly suggest you spend your money on a new car before trying to make this one go fast. Also, there is no way it will hit your requested speed on your budget.

hmm, i dunno. i just look around for what i want then call him or email him a list. He puts a package price together, then i call with my CC, or he takes paypal and money orders too.

it's really no different then ordering online, right?

i've dealt with plenty of shops and he is the best, bar none. he's been around since 1988. that is pretty impressive for a hobby shop to stick around that long.

I really don't like that TL-01 rip off. A spoiled kid at a Hobbytown USA parking lot race had one and it was junk. HPI and Tamiya make their own products, only for people to copy it.

i just read that that car you bought's motor only revs at 22k rpms i think they got goofed up gearing if they go 45mph. im looking to get my buggy going 60 and its 76k rpms

These cars do definitely not do 45 mph.....maybe 20mph at the best!

You'll need to sink about $700 in an electric touring car chassis if you want to get anywhere near 70mph. You'll need a relatively high end chassis, a brushless system, a pair of big Lipos, a lipo charger, and a good servo, all of which adds up to $$$

I hate to burst your bubble. But that is a TL-01 with a plain jane 540 stock motor.
The top speed is really 16 to 18mph.

Iv'e seem them run on the street.

It looks like a TL-01. But that car is not even close to Tamiya quality. Around 16 to 18 sounds about right for a TL-01 stock.

I read the forums alot and I don't post alot but this one I had too. Look at the 2002 Dodge ram and take look at that savvy. It says savage right on it yet they take the pic from hpi. what the heck!?!?

Does it look like the "offroad" and "onroad" are the same car just different tires and shocks?

i have a genuine tamiya tl01, and with a decent esc, decent batteries and a 15turn motor, and it goes about 30mph.
I would suggest not to upgrade this car much at all, as it isnt worth it unless you have big bux!

If u want this level of speed prepare to spend! u're asking for a 70 miles rocket that means serius upgrade from a real18-25 mile car in stock...they claim for 45 miles?u mean scale miles? maybe they mean kilometres per hour...miles are miles not peanuts...

taking a second look...this all around plastic car smells Tamiya..even the specs...:

SPECIFICATIONS:
Length: 441mm (18")
Width: 185mm (7.4")
Height: 142mm (5.7")
Wheelbase: 260mm (10.4")
Tread (F/R): 182mm (7.3")
Wheel Diamet: 66 * 26mm
Gear Ratio: 5.7:1
Chassis Weight: 1104g
Motor: RC-540-22K
Battery pack: 7.2V SC1800mAH Ni-Cd Rechargeable

Anyway, focus on this two specs: gear ratio and weight...with 5.7:1 you'll never ever be able to speed over 55-60km per hour...plus the extra gift of weight.......I think is not worth the time and money to spend !leave it as it is (if u have it),and try for a serius race paperweight car!...

well,... a think needs just 3 things:MONEY, set up ,and hands to drive his new rocket... .......
