The same KELLY that competes in the F1-class at the Reno Air Races has been reproduced for the first time as a 70-class R/C model. The giant scale air races that are popular in the U.S. are becoming more popular in 70-class. The mostly pre-assembled structure features a fiberglass fuselage that comes complete with basic coloring and a cowl that produces stunningly realistic form - the slanted engine mount contributes to the slim nose. The pre-covered balsa main wing Features one-piece winglets just like on real airplanes, which increases efficiency and prevents stalling for increased stability at low speed. The fully featured kit also includes fuel tank, linkage parts and tires, leaving very little assembly time and cost to get airborne. The KELLY is the perfect entry point into the world of big-scale air racing.
The FRP fuselage is complete with basic coloring and cowl, which produces stunningly realistic form. The slanted engine mount also contributes to the slim nose. The main wing features one-piece winglets, just like on real airplanes, which increases efficiency and prevents stalling for increased stability at low speed. The fiberglass fuselage is factory finished with the base color, so exterior detailing is simple and takes about an hour to complete. The Kyosho Kelly F1 Racer also features factory-finished fiberglass wheel pants that cover the legs to the tires for better aerodynamics and smooth flight. A unique one-piece vertical fin and main fuselage balance the upper and lower areas. The kit also includes wire linkage parts for rudder. Steering tail wheel gives free taxiing control.

I like your post count Steve! :D

Did Bob Brassell get a hold of you? He's looking to ge a pre-production version so he can set it up for a Jett 90.

I don't think I've heard from him yet. I think a Jett .90 would rip the wings off. ;) This isn't a huge plane - with a wingspan of only 55 inches, a .70 four-stroke is quite powerful. A Jett .90 two-stroke would be off the charts... and a lot of fun! :D

My bad! He didn't mean a 90.

Id not likely put a 90L in there. Probably a regular SJ-50 or 60LX would be great. Same size as the 50-70FS they are calling for, plus that thing will not need anything bigger than a 10" prop to haul buns.
Maybe I can give him a call, and at least see if he has photos of what the front end looks like. Fitting the engine should not be a big deal, its getting the muffler in properly.

Steve, I lost your business card or else I would have e-mailed you this info. If you send me your addy at "the office" I will forward that to Bob.

FYI - the Kelly F1 airplanes just arrived. They're in short supply so I don't expect them to last long, but we did just receive them.

I have started my Kelly and the wing is complete- no surprise pretty straight forward as far as ARF's go. The engine area is very tight. Definately a saito or OS 4 stroker would be best fit. But I want a 2 stroker in there. How is the Jett coming?

I will be ready for engine install by weekend.

We were having trouble getting the muffler to fit correctly without cutting into the air duct below (which would look weird!) Sorry for the late reply Ive been in the hospital all week. Will keep you updated as we finish is ASAP. Yes I agree you would want a 2 stroke cuz after all its a pylon racer.

But keep in mind, it is designed for the .70 four-stroke racing class in Japan. ;)
