We have our own forum now. You can now easily look back over all the old competitions for inspiration or entertainment. I will keep the newest one at the top for easy access, feel free to comment and discuss amongst yourselves in the old ones.

Lets use this as a place to discuss anything related to the competitions and keep the competitions to compliments and entries.

Not a bad idea Fester. We could post our work in our own thread, possibly drum up some business for those of us who paint for money.

Is there comp of Best painter of the year? I mean that winners from every month (amatour and pro's) will take off and in the end of the year jury will choose best body from 12 competitions (12 months)? Thats my idea :D

I like the idea of having members vote for a 2006 winner in the pro and in the amature class. Let me see if I can work something out to allow voting on all the winning bodies.

What is everyone's opinion on only allowing bodies which appear mounted (either a mock up chassis or a real one) into the competitions?

I know a lot of the pros dont usually have the right chassis laying around, while the amatures paint for their own cars.

i like the idea! Many of us paint for people that we have no chassis, or at least the correct one for it for mounting purposes, so i say YES!

That it shouldn't matter if they are mounted or not, because your not being judged by what wheels and tires they have, but by what the paint is like (is it clean, does it flow, etc.) :)

you are right Mike, but,....thers always a but, Pro class is slated more at the final product. As a whole, if you will. For customer jobs on tourers, i have a set of wheels/tires mounted on dowels, so i can set them under the car for appearance now. It will help in that "flow" , as it gives the illusion of a finished ride.

Ron keep in mind that most of the pros don't cut out the shell (some do) befor they ship it (the customer cuts it).

Also I can under stand that for on-road cars, because the wheels are right there and almost touching the body, but what about off-road cars?

One more thing, who would have thought that this would becoume a debate after 2 posts?

i think the only time that weather or not the body is monted should matter is when we have concourse competitions where realism is the goal, but that goes without saying.

BINGO! theres the man with the right thought!!!!

Mab, right there,...^^^^^^^^^^^, concourse class must be mounted, or mocked up.

I agree, mounted for the concours comp only. I paint bodies for a guy that doesn't like me to trim the shell, so that would mean I couldn't enter it? That doesn't sound fun.

Im personally a fan of unmounted because otherwise I would need to mock something up in order to enter. I was just curious to hear everyone elses opinion. As of now things will stay the same. It was already implied that the concourse needs to be mounted. I cant think of an unmounted entry come to think of it.

Continue discussing whatever you want.

The rule regarding entering a car body in a competition on RCZone and on other sites is being questioned.

A few people believe that a body can only be entered into this competition and no other competitions on the internet. I disagree with this and here is why.

1) We would have to compete with the other competitions for entries. Someone would then have to make a decision as to whether they will enter our competitions. I think this will hurt the turnout, especially among the more seasoned painters.
2) Its hard to police, what happens if after judging is complete they enter the body into another contest? Are they disqualified? If not, why make them wait until the end of the month to post it anywhere else.
3) I dont understand why people feel this way. Please enlighten me.

The rule was originally written when this was the only contest on the internet, and was created to force people to paint new bodies and challenge the painters. I feel that things get very complicated as soon as I/we try to include the goings ons of other websites.

Hey Mab - Personally I don't have a problem if the body is entered in comps at other websites. I really don't understand why anyone would have a problem with that anyway. I know that cfxpaintworks doesn't allow entries in their comps to be anywhere else on the web, but they don't state why they have that rule.

I agree also that we would lose some entries.

I say lets not make so many rules that people choose not to enter their work on this site. If they want to enter it on other sites let 'em, and the body is still welcome here too.

Mab I aggree with you 100% that we (the painters) should be allowed to enter in any number of paint comp's we want as long as it has only been in that comp once (enter it there once, then later if you want to enter again paint something new).

hijacker, yes CFX had that rule last month, but I think this month they don't have that rule. When they did it, it was a test to see what would happen.

Yes you would lose entries if you had to pick a place to enter (I think there is 3 contests, being here, cfx, and xrc)

Divide and Conquer. It's a cliché for a reason.

I suggest leaving it open to multiple competitions across the w.w.web, but retain the recent completion rule (inside the last 6 months) and no duplication rule (can't enter another competition on this site if it was previously entered on this site - and not pulled before judging, for whatever reason).

At least that's what makes sense to me - but then again, what do I know?

i thought about this over the last couple of days (sick with virus/flu)...i am in favor of the "only here" rule.but your right it it came down to that, painters mite be turned away from the strict rule.i still think the "exclosive rule" here would make it fair cuz alot of us dont go domain site jumping tossing your entry here n there!how many times i have seen the same reader's "ride" in RCCA and another magazine the very next month!i find taht a lil a nnoying!i am not knocking any painters but come on out of all the entries, they happen to pick the same entry!

i am gonna kinda go out on a legal loop hole here, now techniaclly if you enter your submission here doesnt it kinda become property of RCCA!

Fester - this is the World Wide Web. All things free and easy here man. If my car body became the property of RCCA when I posted a pic of it, then I sure wouldn't want to post a pic of my R/C car, or my real car, and what if my house was in the background?!? I could be homeless!

Just kiddin' with the sarcasm my friend. But I don't think that is how it works.
