help with propping and finishing!!!!

I am building a dumas chris craft cobra with a titan 550 motor and was wondering how to finish the hull so i can use it in water but still keep the mahogany sides. Also what battery and prop should I use for fast planing speed and around a 10-20min run time??

i'm not familiar with the boat, how bout a few details like length/width/weight. what motors will you be running? as far as the finish, you may be able to use epoxy thinned with alcohol to seal the surface, or airplane dope and clear coat.
