I've wanted to fly all my life. Even have a few hrs. of dual time under my belt. I've read everything aviational I could get my hands on since I was 8.
Now I'm nearing 60 and it's time I flew something. Got a copy of Real Flight G2 and have gotten comfortable with that. I'm seriously looking at a Dave Patrick Super Cub. Anybody got any thoughts before I blow a wad o' green on it?

Skydog, if you have gotten comfortable with a flight sim, and then successfully learn to fly any high wing, 4-channel aileron trainer, (With an instructor would be good!) you will have no problem with the Dave Patrick Models Super Cub.
The only reason I would not recommend it as a first trainer is that being a Scale Cub with lightweight built-up balsa and lite-ply construction, it would not be as rugged as a specifically designed trainer plane!
Other than this, you'll have a great time with the Super Cub. I reviewed it a while ago for MAN and I powered it with an OS 120 4-stroke. But a strong 90 4-stroke would have plenty of power
good luck.

Well, in the absence of advice to th' contrary, I bought th' DP PA-18. Th' previous owner had it set up for elec. power, but that's WAY expensive so I'm lookin' for a small gasser. Prob'ly have it in th' air in th' Spring.
Gorgeous lookin' bird!
Also bought th' Spektrum DX 7. Gonna be a great combo.

How are you doing with your flying? Did you get another plane?
I don't fly gas or glow. All of my planes are electrics or gliders, so if you want a suggestion in that space, I can help you.
I am interested in how you moved forward.

aeajr,
Thanks for your interest. I haven't progressed much beyond the aquisition stage.
Bought a G-26, but it needs installation. Gotta get a few ft. of fuel line an' a coupla props an' I'll be set. The holdup is my recovery from a burst aneurysm; cost me th' use of my right side. I'm 'bout 80% over it after a li'l over 2 yrs. So I figure in th' next 3 mo. or so I'll be able t' start.
Been a LONG row t' hoe, but I'm gettin there. I spend a LOT o' time on th' net, readin' everything I can get my nose into tryin' t' flatten out th' learning curve. It's goin' well and my acupressurist seems pleased so I am, too.
Tnx again,
Ron
