What engine is this? I am assuming you mean TM. How old is this engine, because old engines that have been used extensively will lose compression. I will throw out the suggestion of making sure the glow plug is fully threaded into the cylinder head, judging by how well written your quesiton is. ;) It probably needs a new cylinder sleeve and piston combo, and replacing the connecting rod couldn't hurt.
You also mention a problem with the carburetor not closing properly and a needle is stuck. For the closing issue, make sure the servo is providing enough throw to close it all the way, and if the idle adjustment screw is set properly. If the screw that is stuck happens to be the idle adjustment screw, make sure not to tighten it all the way clock-wise, as there should be a 1mm opening at idle (not fully closed as some beginners may be inclined to believe).
Personally, I believe the .18TM is a much better engine than the TRX3.3. You don't have to buy a new engine simply because yours is not working correctly. The worst that can happen here is that you end up buying a new sleeve / piston package (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHKV5&P=7), and you find you need a new carburetor (which probably is not the case).
Hope this works out! :)

You know what, i had a mc-59 glow plug, and my hyper .21 had barely any compression and it was tight, then i tryed a new glow plug OS 8 and it had SO MUCH more compression, also make sure the head screws are tight, sometimes, manufactures dont tightne them enough, or lock tight them.
But how much fuel roughly have u gotten through the engine? like how many 1gallons jubs of fuel u bought since u got the engine?
