 Hello, my name is Jason and I am part of a design team at Saint Louis University building a model for a competition. The model we are building is designed to carry a rather large pay load, maxing out around 55 pounds. We are interested in using a braking system on the plane so it can be stopped in a given distance upon landing. I realize that a braking system is dependant on the landing gear that we use in the first place. I've researched using a robart setup, including their largest struts along with their pneumatic brakes. Unfortunately this complete setup is a bit pricy around $500. I'm sure we are going to end up having to use some beefy struts to properly handle the weight but I was wondering if anyone might know of an alternative breaking system (even homemade) that wouldn't be so pricy. Thanks!
