my motor in my t-maxx 3.3 blew up so i put my t-maxx 2.5 motor in it and my truck will not shift into 2 gear.. we also are having a problem with the throttle, when i start going it loses its throttle for no reason...well no reason that i could think of, the batteries are completly charged so that is not the reason.. if you have any ideas about any of these problems a answer would be great

What what what? ok ur taking off ur saying im hoping and guess, and the car loses power, so im guessing ur high speed needle, is to lean, or rich? i really hate traaxas engines. We need more info on this. When u do full throttle is it at full throttle? and when u let off the gas is it idling? so when u hit the brakes the carb shouldn't move, and at full u shouldnt be able to pull the throttle any farther out.

It sounds like the engine is either extremely lean or rich! Does the truck rev and then suddenly "bog and die" or "bog and pick back up"? If so its lean on the high end, reset that needle to about 3 3/4 turns from closed and retune from there. If its just kinda sluggish all around and has a lot of smoke comming out of the pipe then its rich, lean it with 1/8 turn incriments until its were you want it UNDER 315-320* F!

Hope this helps,
Jake

The throttle returns to the idle position would be the best way to discribe it. then you tweak the trigger again an zooom your off. its like the signal is interupted. as for the shifting issue the tranny worked great with the 3.3 but doesnt shift into 2nd with the 2.5, My son started this thread and im not sure what temp range he has been in. Since these cars are both forsale i told him dont mess with them.

well it is most likely a tuning issue so nothing big. If the rpms cant go high enough it wont shift.

The 2.5 is kinda wierd like that, I couldn't get mine to run at 240 degrees it didn't do anything till it reached 300... Traxxas makes a hot running engine so I say let it run hot, until it goes then you can get a real engine!, lol

I deal with 2.5's everyday at work (I work at a Hobbytown) and as far as Im conerned there a P.O.S. I cant stand Traxxas anything, lol

Later,
Jake
