im sure ill get flamed a little for owning one, and i saw the thread about it in another section, but i wanted to post up a little about what i thought of the Esavage since i just got it today and have made a few runs around.

To start, since im new here ill say, ive owned a lot of RC's in the past, Nitro savages (the first generation, and did the 25 swap before the 25 came in a savage),nitro buggies, nitro TCs, brushless TC3 , rustler 2.5, electric stampede and blah blah blah. so ive had a few rides to compare to.

Quality-
The quality of the truck is overall pretty good, im a little disappointed in the shocks, and the driveshafts will almost certainly break once i put some power into this thing. The red springs supplied with the truck in RTR form arent long enough to fit on the shocks without the spacers, no problem really, but the springs also bind when at full, and even near to full compression, and they lack the strength to push the truck back up like they should (and did in the nitro savage).

Power-
The power running full stock isnt bad really, i live in an appartment in a city (im at college) and dont have a ton of space and people dont really like noise of nitros (which is why i got an Esavage). Accelleration is good when the tires grip, and top speed isnt bad for a stock truck, id compare it as even or maybe a LITTLE BIT faster then a stock emaxx (i just hope it gets a good aftermarket like the maxx did) If the supplied tires were sticky enough to get some real grip on pavement, i feel it could PROBABLY wheelie from a standing start, but i couldnt get grip enough so we wont say for sure. I set it up to climb some hills, but once again traction was a problem and i wound up slinging loose dirt all in my face and stuff, not cool. Ill take it down to an empty parking lot and give it some speed runs and see how quick it really is. Run time was not disappointing, i ran for about 15 minutes i would say, and power as Nimh batts usually are, stayed consistent right up till the end and then died off quick.

Handling-
The truck handled pretty well aside from its shock problems and bad tires, in the grass with bumps it held its line pretty well even at full power. The turning radius is pretty bad though, i actually think my nitro savage turns a little sharper, but that may be the high power servo and the increased power to spin the tires. The truck flies pretty good from waht i can tell, like i said i didnt have a lot of room, but the usually plastic skateboard ramp test, and then the ramp down the stairs test showed it flew pretty straight and level.

I got the truck with the GT truck body, and i really like it, i cant tell if its actually a smaller body or the same body as the nitro savage (i no longer have the savage here), but it looks really good and fits well.

The tires are way off ballance, but im hoping that will fix its self as i run it more, if not, i would just get new tires and use the stock wheels becaue they look good. The whole truck looks much better in person then it does on screen, like most RCs.

when i get home to NJ and can go to my LHS i plan on getting some nice batteries for now, and later around christmas time ill be going brushless and ill replace the broken driveshafts as they happen. A few people have been running Emax half shafts and trans gears so ill see if i can work that out for some added durability for the drivetrain.

After seeing those LST2 brushless lipo trucks run , it has me questioning whether i did the right thing getting this truck. Those things are probably TOO fast for my use of this truck (bashing) but id like to have a fast truck with good accelleration.

sorry for the long post, just trying to inform anyone that was looking to find out. I searched for a long time to find any kind of info, and couldnt find it anywhere.

Cool, thanks for the write-up! Glad you are enjoying your E-Savage, as it is no doubt a good overall package. On a somewhat limited budget, the E-Savage (or E-Zilla) is definitely the way to go. If you want an E-LST, you have to get a nitro LST first, then pack about $600 in electronics in it to make it acceptable. I guess you can get the RTR E-LST from that one manufacturer Fine Design, but it is still not cheap. If you have a litte extra money to spare, the E-LST is definitely the way to go, though :).

Welcome to RCZ, by the way! Enjoy your stay!

yeah the Losi monsters are the way to go in both nitro and electric, but you have to pay to play. After i graduate and have a real job, ill be getting an lst2 (or newer if they have it). as for this truck, its going to get a brushless ASAP or at least a pair of crazy brushed motors and a nice ESC (which will end up costing more then brushless)

when stuff like driveshafts and trans gears break, ill just fix/upgrade.

ok well i was out running again instead of being in class. i came up with a little bit of a bandaid fix for the shock setup. i put one shock on the "tall" setting hole in the arm, and one in the "low" setting of the arm. it seems to have stiffened it up JUST A LITTLE BIT. but its better then it was (judging from dropping it from desk level). i just have to make sure im not over extending the shocks.

You wouldn't if you're looking for an electric monster truck...... if you get that and convert it, you're looking at well over $500. This is why the E-Savage looks good. I have a feeling it won't look as good if a new E-Maxx comes out though.

hopefully they don't make a new emaxx for now. I just barely got mines.
