as the thread states, has anyone had trouble with their axial pull start breaking? i was trying to start my truck yesterday (.28) , pulled the string out 6-8 inches and the cord broke on the string spool, i was pissed so i spent a long time last night fixing it, thought it was fixed, and on the first pull today it breaks again, i sent axial a nice email asking for a new one but its thanksgiving, nobody is working
i was just curious to see if anyone else had problems with their pull starts because it seems odd that they would break so easily

I don't have any Axial pull-starts, but they're the exact same as the HPI K4.6 pull-starts, and I haven't really had any problems with them, and I have two of those engines.
I'm running an Axial .28 on my savage never had any problems with the cord on the pullstart breaking.
I did pull it out too far and the cord got stuck, but it was easily fixed and I havent had a problem since. That was maybe 3 months ago, I've had the engine for almost 5 now.
Did your cord actually break, or did it just get stuck? Did you make sure it was spooled properly when you re-assembled it?

the first time it broke, it just broke off, i didnt pull it too far, it just broke while it was still spooled up on the spool thingy, i have an hpi S-25 pull start but the owb shaft sized do not look the same, now im kinda pissed, i wound ti abck up last night the correct way, and it just wouldnt recoil, i dont understand why pull starts are so hard to fix, i tried forever last night to do it and i still couldnt, i think im just gunna have to order another one, $14 down the drain

there so difficult because the manufacture wants u to buy a new one :p
but those axial pullstarters are the most reliable from what i have heard, if u flood it, dont blame ur engine.

apparently not, i did not flood the engine, seeing as it started like normal for a second or two and then died

hmm, odd, well not every piece of plastic is made 100 percent, umm, most likely u pulled it to far, u might now have realized it but u may have, ill look for a cheap pullstarter if u want?

thanks, i think josh has one for like $7, hopefully axial will send me a new one too, and i just want one really cheap that works, give me some options, pretty much anything is better than $14 :D
i kinda want an electric because of these little things

no u dont, deem down inside u love nitro but hate it when things break, maybe u should get a roto starter? but my hobby shop costs 30 CDN lol!!! there nutz and they got to order it so screw it, Josh is lucky, if i worked for a hobby shop be crazy!!!! but i cant drive not for another 2 years!

i want a brushless along with a nitro, but yes, i love my savage, i hardly ever do any work to it, and its extremely tough, but the pull start isnt, i dont not want a roto start period because its another thing i have to carry around and charge up, plus if i forget to charge it, i cant even run my truck, plus the pull start is on the truck, nothing to carry, today and tomorrow are perfect, damn that pull start
and yes im relying on josh for that thing, and axial for a spare

Remembering to charge your batts is easier than dealing with continually breaking P/Ss :P. I would def consider it if you can swing the funds for a Roto.

I had problems with my Axial .28 pullstart not long after i got it...was sticking and not rewinding then the spring broke....after several tries i got it rewound after rebending the end of the spring with needle nose pliers...Oh yea BTW still waiting to hear back from them good thing i dident honestly expect any service from them even though it was defective it has been about 3 months now  anyhow i dident flood the engine and was carefull at all times to pull it with short quick pulls to avoid overpulling the cord....to start it when it would not rewind when i was bashing i used the toolkit i pack with me and turned the motor backwards with the clutch screw till it was rewound......This was highly anoying as it dident start first try but was able to continue having fun. i did buy a rotostart for it but i am gonna need it for the other truck i built off ebay boy did i get some sweet deals on there :D
