I just had to upgrade my BCP to a new radio(stock one smoked literally and I wanted to start getting the gear for a T-Rex). The current setup is as follows:
Trans: JR XP7202h
Reciever: JRSport RS6UL 6 channel
Gyro: EFlite Heading lock gyro
Servos:EFlite RS75
Speed Controls:EFlite 20Amp Brushless ESC(Main)
GWS300 with heatsink
Motors:main-EFlite370 5400KV Brushless
Tail-stock
Battery:2S 1200mah Lipo
It has the BellHiller mixer installed with CarbonFiber blades.
This is the first heli radio that I've setup up. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on starting points for the setup of the radio for flight. Also I was wondering if it is normal for the gyro to act a little weird when you switch it between gain settings remotely. It currently will behave(I think) if you don't switch gain remotely. The moment that I switch the gain at the transmitter, the tail spins up all the way, even when the helicopter is sitting still. Is that normal or do I have something setup wrong with the gyro. Like I said, this is first time that I've needed to program a heli radio and don't want to crash on its first flight with the new radio gear. Thanks for any help.

My Nexus has the same dual gain settings, but I have never tried doing that. I always leave it on the same setting... Does it do it in both directions ? (when ya switch it form either one to the other, or just in one direction ? Have you tried switching it before you turn on the radios , to see if it still acts up ?

I just did some more thinking on this. The gyro settings are in the programming of the TX. Mine are... You need to read the TX manual... then set the gyro according to their instructions. I think whats going on here is that the setting that makes the tail motor run, is not a good setting, and that one needs to be reset. You will need to go into the programming mode of your TX, go to gyro settings, and set them both up. Basically, while your hovering, note what the tail does, land, then increase the gain a little at a time until the tail wags a little, then lower it until the wagging stops, and that should be good enough. Don't try to change the setting while you hovering though. lol You shouldnt need the other setting, but you can set it slightly lower or higher than the other for experimentation. That one bad setting needs to be corrected for sure though, in case ya accidentally hit the switch while in flight. Be careful out there... lol If ya need more help, just ask. I can break out my manual, and we can go thru this stuff. These new fangled TX's look confusing at first, but soon you'll be adding revo to counteract tail swing on spool up. I think it was REVO anyway. It's that pesky short term memory thing... Dennis Flora

You need to look in the manuals for the tx and the gyro. They should give ya some general starting points for low and high gyro gain settings. I have mine set at +40 for low, and +60 for high.
