Interesting. I'm noticing more and more companys releasing kits with adjustable chassis flex. I think it's a great tuning feature.

Now this is how the M18 should have been from the beginning!!!

Where is the carbon fiber drive shaft ;)

I wonder if other companies are going to make wheels for the new setup?

I have the standard carbon chassis M18 and it's great the one thing I wanted was a better top deck than it had. The new wheel mounting system is also 100 times better than the original. Overall this will be a great car for the winter season.

You can make your own with some graphite kite tubing pretty easily.

Never had a M18 but now I want one! Anyone knows the price?

The_Mini_Me

Around $189 street price.

YAY!
they finally ditched the old style wheels! :D

NO!
they are still using composite cvd's

The_Mini_Me
12-04-2006, 08:16 PM
Composite CVDs hold up very very well in the m18. The only time I have ever needed metal ones is with a one way with foam tires on carpet. That was for the front only. You also have less rotating mass with the composites.

Aluminum CVDs will be available separately.

That is crazy for this terd!

I know I shouldn't feed trolls, but why? Adding up the cost of all those hop ups separately is well beyond a $200 price mark. Did you mean to say "turd"?

PeterV

Anyone who drives a Dodge ought to know how to spell turd! :D

ZING!

Sorry Dodgeguy, I couldn't resist.

hold it right there!

this could be the future of touring cars right here :teacher:
189 for a full carbonfiber car is not that expensive
:D im mean shure it has composite dogbones but this thing would haul with a mamba 8000 c'mon givem a chance

70 km/h is a little below 45 mph, and thats not crazy fast

I'm impressed, looks decked out, would look great next to my RC18T

I see black chassises (chassi?) but where's the silver or light blue? :)

70 km/h is a little below 45 mph, and thats not crazy fast

No, but its better to list a speed that is easier for most to attain than list a incredible straight line speed that would be unfeasible for most others. Meaning for those who think they can as easily without having the best driving conditions nor skill to back up extreme high speeds, its probably not the best idea to advertise that "omg!" speed on the box. 70km is "safe" enough. :)

In other words, it all depends on what you put in.

Those are available separately for people converting or other.

wow, real high tech stuff. i know they race 1/18 offroads on like indoor tracks with jumps, but do they race these...

The_Mini_Me
12-07-2006, 03:17 AM
Depends on where you race, but a definite yes!

we used to race at SoCal Raceway all the time... most indoor tracks (carpet) will let you race these as long as there are enough guys together to race... SoCal is a indoor asphalt track but it was awesome... now there is an indoor carpet track in Orange CA that races 12th scale cars and micros (from what I heard) are perfectly welcomed

personally I LOVE ths new version of the M18.... it looks sweet... and I'll finally get to use my Hudy micro tire truer again

Yes it is, I have had a few before. And your point is why I say it should be in the kit ;)

I did'nt get the speed listing either? Since there is no motor in the kit is there? :p

Its to help people understand what the car is capable of with the right equipment.

Maybe they'll offer a Ferrari F430 body this time around? That would be great.

The_Mini_Me
12-08-2006, 03:02 PM
It comes with a Mazda which has been showing to work great in racing. I know of one small time manufacturer of lexan 1/18th bodies that will produce new types if he gains enough interest.

Grizzbob
12-08-2006, 07:33 PM
Yup, plus there's now also Protoform's Stratus 3.0 for 1/18 scales. Haven't tried one yet personally, but I will as soon as I can finish trimming & mounting mine(have it painted, just haven't used it yet, should remedy that tomorrow night)....

The_Mini_Me

Here is a step by step build someone posted on another site (they are in Europe where the kit is available). This is minus him painting and attaching Mazda body, and of course the electronics are his own.

kant76 has posted a video of running his m18 pro on his local track. I should note that normally they don't run brushless on this small track. He does a tremendous job in such a tight layout.

Oh you've done it again X-RAY. Another example of what the perfect 1/18 scale touring car should be. I feel if X-RAY had some competition in the 1/18 scale touring market it could only get better. Tamiya should release a 1/18 scale TRF 415 than things would start to really heat up. ;)

Whose with me!!! :D

They should be reaching Hobby Shops this week in the US. Also, Xray has added the M18 to their Virtual Online Setup Sheets (http://forum.teamxray.com/xsheets.php). Which means you can post and share your setups with the global Xray community.

our local track runs micro car,...and with the exception of me, ( great deal on my HPI) everyone runs M18's. I have driven quite a few of them, and if you enjoy running 1/18, like on-road, this is a no-brainer.

There really is no comparison IMO.

I noticed that side by side with one of those Associated RTR 1/18th cars, this one is ALOT smaller. Does anyone know why that might be?

z-man280
04-08-2008, 07:02 PM
the AE 18R is based off the truck, with shorter a arms, shocks, tires, ect. the bodies are cartooned to fit. The M18's are more true to sclae for appearance.

M18 pro is the way to go... It's the standard size for the 1:18 onroad class. I've had the original M18 since it was released, sold it and got the Pro when it came out. Here's my M18 pro at the track :): http://youtube.com/watch?v=sicsOeoyAyg

I got one! I finished building it the other night, but I still need to get the correct servo saver for the micro servo I bought (an Associated one), and I need to get the Mamba Max combo for it. I haven't bought it yet because they're supposed to start shipping the new Sidewinder speed controls instead of the now-discontinued Mamba 25. I wish they'd start selling them! I'm dying to get this thing running!
