Just getting started on the latest DF-03 (Dark Impact chassis) from Big T. Nothing beats a Tamiya build!

Are you almost finished?

I don't get how you can just lay out all the parts and then stop and wait a few more days to finish it.

I'm not so keen on this hawk. It seems like it takes a long time to build and therefore must be fairly difficult.

I have a Dark Impact(same df-03 chassis) and it doesn't take very long to build.

I'm thinking that Peter had a stress overload from reading the manual on this one. I haven't seen a post from him in a while. Maybe one of us should build it for him?

He's prolly on Christmas vacation.

12-26-2006, 01:26 AM

C'mon Peter. We know you're out there because you've been loading new stuff on here. Do you need help with the build or did you accidentally build something and need to take it back off and can't find your left handed screwdriver? JK

Jayboy
01-02-2007, 02:32 PM
wow!
Its been nearly a month!

awnelson
01-02-2007, 03:25 PM
I'm hoping he gets it done in time... the box say's 8+ years so he's still got a little bit of time left.

Jayboy

I'm actualy alittle concerned. He hasn't been online in a while. And I'm sure he would normaly have finished the build in a timely manner. He's either realy busy, or something else.

He's posted stuff in the new items forum in the last two weeks.

this is the dumbest idea ive seen.... why have this if nothing is going on  they need to finish ONE THING AT A TIME!

Jayboy
01-11-2007, 05:07 PM
1 month and 5 days...yes im counting!
The suspense is killing me!

Demon-TC3
01-13-2007, 04:54 PM
hmm...apparently the Keen hawk requeres you to actually Mine the ores, smelt them yourself and build the thing from scratch...literally!
Perhaps thats why it takes so long?

awnelson
01-13-2007, 05:00 PM
I propose building the thing by members. Take a lottery approach, pick a winner, have the vehicle be sent to the member and they do a comprehensive build-up. Keep the vehicle when you are done. Members would be eligible only if they can prove at least two previous build-ups to compare to, have a digital camera and the ability to write grammatically correct paragraphs about what they are doing.

Demon-TC3
01-13-2007, 06:03 PM
hmm sounds intresting from a members perspective ut that sort of thing is expensive...also people may not be experianced with giving reviews so what one person likes someone else may not, its very difficult to be inpartial when giving reviews...i for one cant stand belt driven cars so will rip them to peices to identify the smallest problems with them...shaft drive cars on the ther hand i will make a shrine in the corner of my room!

what i think would be better is saying, whoever gets the car first can review it...simple as that.

awnelson
01-13-2007, 08:04 PM
I am leaning on getting the car sent to that person at the expense of RCCA, kind of like tool reviews. It is up to the magazine to get it for free from the manufacturer. The only expense would be additional radio equipment... if you've built your quota of vehicles, you would have the radio equipment available anyway. In order for someone to be able to review stuff, they would need to have some proof that they can read and write... maybe even go as far as being able to proof read their posts before hitting submit?

me do it, just send it, review it's okay ... no really that's no that bad of an idea.. But seeing how Pete has abandoned us on this one. not to likley.. popcorn

01-17-2007, 12:58 PM
well, i am sure we can all appreciate Pete's schedule. I would imagine with everything going on, this takes a back burner....

after all, he MUST be making reservations to attend the bash!!! ROTFLOL!!!!!!!!!

Jayboy
01-24-2007, 03:26 PM
Well, i guess hes just left it in the corner of a room to rot....

For those interested with this kit, do not hesitate, it is very easy to assemble !

Just a few pics of my Dark Impact assembly.

Unfortunately I was not thinking about making a lot of pictures of everything, only the biggest step, but it could help/give ideas to somebody here ! ;)

Which one, for the battery or the motor?

I got rid of the ones for the motor, everything is directly welded now ! ;)

tmacfan4321
03-12-2007, 12:29 PM
He's talking about the connectors for the battery and esc, the ones on the motor are some other type of connectors.

Very nice. Tamiya had one at RCX with tons of hop-ups. It looked pretty mean.

The Only hard part of the build is actually finding the parts that you are assembling. The parts tree was no problem but all those bags and they are not labeled drove me insane.... ( retarded laugh)
