I know that i should post this in the mini forum but the administrator wount let me so any way i have 200 dollars and i want the new stampede or the mini lst but i cant get both i like the mlst because its pretty fast for a mini (20 mph) but its more $ i would run it outside a lot of the time but i have anice place inside thats carpeted thats about 50 by 50 feet so the stampede is less $ but bigger so what do you think

I think go wit hthe stampede. Its Yesbiger, but Faster then the mini. the Stampede can go 30 + it is i think more durable? Simpler desighn, Hurd great things about it.

In my opinion, if you are going outside, you want a bigger truck. 50x50 is plenty big for indoor action with a stampede as well. The new xl-5 is a fantastic truck,...if you use your head. I think the "speed pinion" is not a good idea, as it really taxes the electronics, and that has casued people to be upset, but with the stock one, the truck is wonderful! tough as nails, fast, jumps like no other truck, and has a rock-solid history. Go with a pede, you wont be disappointed.

i live in maine so its usually cold and i already have a mamba for a mini (got it for free from a friend) so the speed right now is i think on the other foot (i think) how fast would it go with a mamba and i just found one nib for 150 shipped at my lhs that someone else is selling so right now its a matter of which is more durable as you both said because my dad is a metal worker so he could make me aluminum parts for either but ill have to decide because we dont have a outside track anywhere and we have 3 indoor carpet tracks withn biking distance so could you run a stampede on carpet or would it be to top heavy thanks

hmmm....for racing, i wouldnt go with a mlst personally if thats what your saying about the tracks, maybe an rc18t would be better. but if you were to be a bashing sort and out for fun, with the occasional dirt track fun, go with the pede. i absolutly love traxxas's products, service, everything.
p.s. --what mamba do you have? if its the sport package (maybe even the performance pack) the 'pede will tear it up! if its the 6800/8000 mamba however, the stock pede will have a hard time. plus, if im not mistaken, the mlst has 2 motors in it, so you would neeed to buy a hop up motor plate to fit the single mamba i belive, but i dont got a mlst, so what do i know?

its the competetion x (8000 i belive) and i also have a c4 from dynamite (9200) yes it would be for racing and a little bashing but not real big stuff

I would go with the mlst you can set it up just as any other car and you can make them lightning fast as well

ive had both...i had a mamba 54oo in my mlst along with rear 1/10 buggy tires/rims and it was awesome.
MY pede had a thundertech racing cage, novak brushless, and gpm aluminum arms...i was awesome too
Both are very good!!! Since you dont plan to race alot if ever right now just pic the one you want more :)
Enjoy

Doesn't the Mini-LST have tend to have differential problems? A fast brushless system isn't going to help that...
novacrzy

yes the mini lst has had differential problems but they have new differentials with metal gears now and their will be no more problems

they should give them to us for free since the old ones were no good

I'd definitely have to go for the stampede or a rustler. I haven't had much experience with stampedes themselves, but I know the rustlers are tough as HECK and plenty fast and I'm sure the stampedes are the same think. Traxxas = perfect bash cars.

No question I'd rather have a pede than a mini-lst. Lots more parts most places, more realistic hop-upability. No real eye-candy like aluminum arms and stuff, but real world stuff like big bore shocks, bigger motors, hub carriers/bearings, etc. are all in the list.
I have had a pede for almost 10 years now. It was my first hobby quality r/c vehicle and I will be buried with the thing :)

Umm....you can get big bore shocks and faster motors for the mini-lst. I wouldnt say bearing and hub carriers because its Traxxas fault they didnt incorporate that into the design, the MLST comes on full ball bearings stock. Anyways both are pretty cool, stampede has higher ground clearence, but is only 2wd. Mini lst is 4wd. I have been running brushless in my mini lst for the longest time and have experienced zero differential problems.

Holy crap inverted! Are those HPI 2.2" wheels on there? The Mlst is bigger than I thought...
(I vote stampede as well; I love my Rustler, a close cousin of the 'pede, and it can take a BEATING)

I vote for the Stampede XL-5. It's a great truck. Good value and tough. I've had a lot of different r/c cars but my stampedes are the ones that get driven the most. They're just fun.

stampedes rock. they can take the biggest beating dished out. they are lights and sonewhat agile but fast and durable as heck. i would buy that if i were you. i have a pede with XL-5 and Titan 12T and its fun to have a closed endbell motor that needs no maintenance but is fast also. i jump mine off of the X-factor plastic black ramps and it gets at least 7-8 feet high and lands well and keeps truckin. i will soon buy a MLST for small indoors stuff or just fun but the Pede gets my vote

Carpet is a high traction surface so any vehicle on it can be to top heavy the lower the the vehicle the less noticeable it will be and the faster you can go. I think that nether of the vehicles you mention will be too good on carpet. I would say for occasional bashing and more often carpet racing you should look for a truggy like the Rustler, XXX-T, RC18T, or RC10T4.
However if you have already decided on one of these 2 then i say go for the pede, cause Traxxas makes the most rugged and fun R/C vehicles out there! :p

I just don't understand how people can run brushless in the mini LSTs and not have diff problems.Mine has been sitting in a drawer in pieces since March because I got tired of the pinion and ring gears crapping out every third run.And mine is bone stock!
I just ordered the new metal gears and am excited to be able to run it again.Like novacrzy said, Losi should give them out for free.Having to retire a rc after less than three months(and 6 sets of ring & pinion gears) is rediculous.
I don't know if Losi has the mini LST straightened out yet, but after my experience, I'd go with the Traxxas. That's the first and last Team Losi product I'll ever buy.

bet the mlst cant lauch off a 6 foot loading dock and act like its nothing. :D thats a basic jump for my pede....rolls,flips, tumbles......then looks at ya an says "was that your best? keep trying" try THAT with a mlst.
