I once again need to draw on this great community’s knowledge. I am exploring the idea of concerting the AQ Ms Vegas Nitro to electric. I am considering running it in LSH. The hull with the nitro setup installed is 4.6 pounds. I am guessing that removal of the engine pipe ect will bring her down to 3 pounds even. The hull has plenty of room for cell placement. The included driveline will work with little modification. I am just unsure if a 700 class race motor with an rc-hydros esc will make this boat competitive. Opinions?

i think the hull might be a little big for 700 power. typical LSH boats are in the 24-26" range. the vegas is 32"

There is simply no way that boat will be even close to competitive as an LHS racer. The lighter LSH boats in our club - which are very fast - weigh around 4.5 pounds ready to run, and they are about 24" long. Even if the bare Miss Vegas weighs 3 pounds you will be adding 1.7# of batteries and .7# of motor and will end up at nearly 5.5#. Not good, that's heavy for a 12-cell brushless sport hydro. :(
You may get the Vegas to plane with a 700 and 12 cells, but it won't be a decent racer. IMO a far better choice would be a Campbell Classic roundnosed hydro or an H&M Viper II.

You make some valid points. Ya never know unless you ask.
Thanks ;)

I am not so quick to give up on the idea yet. Yes LSH is out of the question. What about a brushless setup? In the OffShore forum a 12xl on 12 to 14 cells was kicked around. If a 1/8th hydro can be setup fast why not a 12th?
