What is the average charge time of a 4200Mah battery pack.
Does it depend on the type of charger being used.

It doesn't necessarily depend on the charger being used, but more the charge rate you're charging at.

For example, a 4200 mah pack charged at 2 amps : remember the 4200 rating on the pack means it can produce 4.2 amps / hour; with that in mind, a charge rate of 2 amps means 2 amps / hour - therefore you divide the capacity of the pack by the charge rate. In this case, it's 4200 divided by 2000 - which will give you your time in hours (2.1 hours, in this example)

Hope this helps :)

It depens on the charge rate, not necessarily the charger. You must divide the capacity by the charge rate in milliamps. Lets say you are charging your 4200 pack at 3 amps. 3 amps in milliamps is 3000 milliamps. 4200 divided by 3000 equals 1.4. It will take about 1 hour and 24 minutes to charge a 4200 pack at a rate of 3 amps. I hope this helps

lol you both said the same stuff like 20 minutes apart

yes what they said is true, but if your using a charger with delta peak, it will stop before the 1.4hr mark (at 3 amps) because there is already some charge in your batts. only if you battery is completly dead will it take the full 1.4hrs (and you have bigger problems at that point then how long you're gonna wait.

;) And I bet it's got plenty of punch after a charge like that, too :)

^^ Thanks for pointing that out, I missed that

Like everyone has said. It depends on charge rate. But it also depends how much is left in the pack too. If the battery is half charged/or half empty... it would obviously take a shorter time. Never take a 4200 6cell pack below 5.4volts when discharging. This can ruin a pack if you do. When I discharge a pack down to 5.4volts, then charge it up at 6amps, it usually takes around 45 minutes. If I charge at 8 amps, then it usually is around 35 minutes. If you are bashing around the yard or parking lot... charge at 4 or 5 amps for more runtime. Charge higher for competition racing.... :teacher:

;) and i bet its got alot of punch after a charge like that :) dude those ib's got hella punch!! they seem to have more punch then my 6000mah lipo's charged at 1c (6amps) http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/images/smilies/confused.gif but with a punchy charge like that, the 6000's last twice as long http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

when esc cell capacity is maxed out, or at least more than six, is the car still practical to drive as for, can the car still be used for regular bashing or are they primarily for speed runs when adding more cells?
