There are many different versions of the Hydroplane/airplane. Some are RTF, some are kits.

Something like this?

or this?

It really stinks that the orginal inventor of those isn't getting a dime from all those knock offs (like the 1st link) that made it to market before he could get someone to produce a version of it for him. The Air hogs version is the one that the inventer has brought to market.

I got one for my son, it's ok. I flew gas powered r/c planes for years in my younger days and I am able to fly this thing. I steers by changing speed to each prop, not by any rudder action so that took a bit to get used to. It is cool that it can be skimming along the grass or water and then take flight but I find it uses up a lot of ground before getting in the air. It needs room for turns, and the battery only lasts about 7 or 8 min of flight.
I will say that my son who has no r/c flying experience at all had the thing in the air on his first try. He was able to take off, circle around, almost hit himself with the thing and bring it around for a fairly smooth landing. I was impressed enough to go out and by a Parkzone plane that I will attempt to teach him to fly. Ended up with the typhoon but the hobby store I bought it from was going out of business, it was all they had left in the RTF sets and I got a good price on it. If it's too much for him I'll pick up something else and use this myself as I wanted to get back into r/c flying anyhow..
Sorry for the ramble, hope I helped with your original question. :o

Thanks for all the help. The airhogs look really cheap and that's not what i'm looking for, had cheap before. Still looking, any more help on a plane/car/boat will be greatly helpful.

I've had experience with the airhogs one. It's fragile and mine was hard to control in the air. It's easy to drive around and float, but flying was terrible. Save your money and get the hobby lobby one
