The owner made an ass out of himself and ran everyone off.

Not entirely true, but it did lead to his demise:
Speed is closed due to the owner being behind in his rent. The owner of the building locked the doors. Rumor has it there is someone interested in reopening it under new management. We'll see.

I heard the person that is looking to reopen it wants to do indoor on-road instead of off-road. I checked it out when it first opened. I didn't like it that much. I broke a lot of stuff that day. They changed it a few months later and I heard it was a little better but then the other problem mentioned above kept it from getting bigger. I'm sure the rent on that place was steep. Hate to see any track close down but sometimes its for the better as a new owner does a better job. N-control in Austin is a prime example of that. The story is previous owner ran everyone off displaying guns out of the back of his truck at the track. Yea no $hit. Some people saw it and he was done. The guy that restarted it has built it up really nice with several big events there last year. One thing for certain in the R/C game things are gonna change.
