Hey MabMan -

I remember a few months back there was a discussion of adding an Intermediate class to the Best Paint Competitions for those of us who do sell their work but really have no chance of beating the real Pros who submit entries.

I'm not whining that I'm not gonna win, because, although it is nice to win that isn't really why I enter my work. I enter because I enjoy showing my paint work off. But, I was wondering if you had given any thought to creating a third class of Intermediate - not an Amateur anymore, but not quite able to hang with the BigGuns like adrcracing and Lidz etc. just yet.

I'm not sure just what qualifications could be set up to determine whether a painter falls into the Intermediate or Pro class, but I think the viewers and other entrants of the competitions can make that assessment as they have in the past of suggesting some people step up from Amateur to Pro.

I figured with the start of a New Year, and the beginning of a new round of competitions, this would be the appropriate time to bring this up.

yep...but it may be diffucult to judge if a body is semi-pro or pro...

maybe we shouldn't enter a class...and the competition's judge class them himself

I dont think their should be... There arent that many posts of bodies to tell you the truth.. the most are like 10 or so, if you add another class than its gonna lower the count again for the calsses and make it more complicated...

If it were introduced. people who want to be part of the better class (and dont have to be selling bodies) are going to enter the Intermediate and not Amateur, and eventually everyone is going to enter the Intermediate class and the amateur one will be extinct. Ive only painted 2 bodies in my life, but i know i would enter the Intermed. class just to be with the good guys. see what i mean. If your not good you know your not gonna win so why not enter the Intermed. class anyay.. just my 2 cents

I see both sides, I feel that if there is another class, for "pros" who aren't "pros" lol, more people may post their work. Since they may feel like they have a better chance. But I can see how people would just post their work in the intermediate class instead though....

THANKS MAB! Just saw in the new competition that there is now an Intermediate Class.

I like the guidelines you set up for the three classes.
