I HAVE A NEW SUPER TIGRE 61 AND HAVE FOLLOWED THE BREAK-END PROCESSES. AM NOW FLYING IT ON A SR. TELEMASTER.
PROBLEM: THE ENGINE SURGES WHEN AIRBORNE, HAVE CHANGED ALL THE FUEL LINES, CHECKED FOR ANY LEAKS ON THE TANK- FOUND NONE.

COULD IT BE A PROBLEM WITH THE LOW SPEED NEEDLE VALVE/?

ANY IDEAS?

BOB

Dear Bob,

Several things can cause fuel surging, however, the most common cause is fuel foaming cause by vibration. When the fuel foams, the engine draws air and slows down. Then the foaming stops and it runs again only to repeat the cycle. Be sure to balance your props and spinner, if used, and mount the fuel tank in foam rubber - not plastic foam that can transmit vibration.

If your tank is mounted in foam rubber, be sure a hatch block, or some part of the fuselage is not pressing on it. Also be sure nothing is restricting the muffler pressure tubing or pressure nipple. Let us know what you find.
