One of the phases shorted and blew a hole in it, so do I have to cut it down now and scrape every individual wire and solder it or is there an easier way out for getting the enamel crap off the wires.

Positive battery post is also bent from the battery falling out or the esc falling out. What could I do about that?

Thanks in Advance, Greg

That is the lead coming out of the motor, right? I would put some shrink tube on it and let it ride. The post on the esc I would leave alone it will more than likly break off if you try to straighten it up.

If a phase in your motor shorted, I'd think that the motor is pretty much done for. The wiring may be fried to oblivion if it was a bad short, and just may not be in the same working order as it was before. Have you tested it at all?

For the ESC's post...looks like an mtroniks ya got there, which means the entire thing is epoxied in an aluminum case. I don't think there's a whole lot you can do to fix that on your own. You may need to send it in to mtroniks to have it fixed.

The motor works, I'm not sure if its as powerful, but its not a big difference. I just read a thread yesterday where the guy had the same thing, a hole blew in the side of the motor phase wire and some of the little wires were kind of black like mine. He clipped the wire down and scraped enamel or epoxy coating off each and every strand so it would solder. It was tcoleson. And yes it is an mtroniks genesis pro esc, and from seeing a few threads where people were talking about their products I can see they have absolutely excellent service. Though I'm not sure about this does it need to be under warranty or something. If anyone could help me out on what I should do with dealing with mtroniks it would be great. Perhaps it might be a little different if its not still under warranty, like pay some sort of fee for it to be fixed. Again it would greatly appreciated to get some help on what I should do. Both of these problems happened a while ago like both in the summer...I guess I must have forgot about it since everything worked ok.. :(
By the way it's a feigao 380c-9t on 8 cells but, whatever happens here, I will most likely go down to 7cells because everything heats up a bit with hard driving in the rustler and I just would rather be on the safe side.

Thank you, Greg

PS. a I m 99% sure a motor phase shorted because it happened when driving in some mud(I checked it periodically for any mud on it) and in the middle of the run I brought it up on the deck to go inside for a few minutes and a hole blew in the phase and that is what tcoleson said about his, it shorted and a hole blew in a phase.

You could try to fix it the way tcoleson did, but beware; those wires are most likely the actualy motor windings, so if you can help it, try not to cut them TOO short. It will probably affect the motor if you trim them down.

Trimming motor wires down is usually a big problem. The company treats them with a resistive coating and what not, so solder does not stick the wires past the very tips. I found this our the hard way once after shortening my feigao wires.
However, there are ways of removing the coating, they are just rather toxic and you have to be careful. I used Aspirin gel pills melted with a soldering iron, and it worked. But a giant mess to clean up.

Yea, it would be pretty short if I cut it down under where it blew out. So maybe it would be best not to fix it that way. Would the best fix for this be to remove the poop off of the wires where it blew without cutting it, and fill in the spot with solder?

Not me. I wasn't even on RC Zone yesterday :). Perhaps it was someone else?

No it was an old thread when I did a search. I'm pretty sure it was you maybe I am mistaken I will go try to find it.

Ah ok heres the thread not sure why I thought it was you. http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?t=209827&highlight=short+phase
Here thought I might give a better view of where it is.

Yeah, I don't use hot glue like that ;).
