I have a fusion, trinity matched 2400's, a P2K, futaba radio.
Definately get orange springs out font, and i have 1 washer under the front ball stud, oh, this is box set up, just the parts i tell diff, i SOMETIMES run pinks out back, mainly yellow, arms and bones level with the ground, 30 rear, and 30 front right now, but i plan on gettin some 32.5 to try out, i have a ton of tires, i mainly use M3 holeshots, or M3 fuzzie squares, and M3 radius ribs out front, best thing to do, get the tires hooked up for your track! just a little opinion of mine, get 1 color of wheels, stick to whites or yellow from the beggining, it is a pet pieve of mine, that is all. I am running 23/82 gear ratio right now, but every track is different!

Hey Thanks!!! All this will help me to tweak out my car. My track was remade or whatever u want to call it. It is a tight track with huge jumps. How hard are the orange and yellow springs. I dont want them to soft.

I have the XXX and heres my setup for a clay track
Front: 25 wt. oil, 57 piston(black), .090" inner limiting, silver springs,
shock pos #2-inside, camber pos. #3-B w/ 2 washers, 30 caster, spindles down
and narrow, -1 camber, chassis level to rear of chassis
Rear: 25 wt. oil, drilled 56 pistons, .080" inner limiting, pink springs,
shock pos. #2-inside, camber pos #2-A, hubs centered, 2 deg antisquat, -1/2
camber, dogbones level, battery forward. In stock I had a Peak spitfire with
a 23 pinion and 78 spur, for mod run 9 teeth higher than what wind you are
running with a 78 spur. Shaved down silver wide body fronts on wide wheels
and pink tapers with bomb 2 soft on wide wheels on the rear.
It works great, And the track has HUGE jumps too.

Hey Losi man same here. I was at this trophy race and this guy was really nice to me and offord help. But when the racing started i kicked his but. He spent the whole time inbetween races to get his car ready while i sat around watching all the races. He wasnt so friendly after that. Oh BTW i hink it really ticked him off because i am only 11.:P All i really worry about is are my batts charged, my shocks are good,my motor is hooked up and my radio equiptment that is all. Then i get home and clean it.

you said it losiman3456 that is just what i do. i go to tracks and get the ires the fast guys have put them on my car race win and every one asks me what the setup is and i say the one in the manual and they say no why and go get there manules and check my car and then they see that i is the stock set up

me too, all i did was put orange springs on the front and kept the rest stock. It's your driving that counts not your setup.

The setup helps! But sometimes it is just the driver. But hey, every little bit helps.

Here is what I say to newbies at our track who ask why they should do this or that. For Example:
Why do I need a T35?
Why should I change my setup?
Why do I need $80 matched packs?
When the time comes that you NEED them, you will not have to ask, "WHY....."
LosiMan3456

That is true sirspeedy but if i leave my setup the same it really doesnt make a difference. I just do what the manuel says and make sure my car keeps maintained. :P
the adjustability of the truck is one of the things that i like and experiment with quite a bit. i'm not that great of a driver, so i change things to make the thing easer for me to drive fast, and it does make a diffrance for me and i have strayed from the manuel setup. i have my xxxt setup to have very responsive steering with no push at all. its so responsive that the few people who have driven it most think the steering is to fast but thats the way i like it.
I think the order of importance would be:
Driver
Tires
Setup

What does the term "Push" mean? I have heard it alot but dont understand it. Hey mike how do u get your car to respond so quickly? I like my car to respond real quick to but I cant get it quick enough. What do u do?

Man! I have a xxx and problay run a the same track your gonna, R&L hobbies right?
I got a cyclone and a P2K in it with a variety of 2000 and 1700 packs and do well. The kit tires hook up realy well at the track so don't be in a rush to change them. Other than pink springs in the rear and 35 wt oil in the shocks its stock setup. Oh the battery is set back in the chassis. A push is were the front end looses traction and doesn't steer, it just keeps going straight into the wall. My xxx had a nasty on power (ie: comming out of turns) push at R&L untill I put the battery pack tward the back to make it rotate more under braking.
losiman-i guess the proper definition of push or understeer is; when the rear tires have more traction then fronts, or when the slip angles of the front wheels are greater then the rears.
My definition is; when i turn the wheel on the radio the truck doesn't turn or turn as much as i intended. sorry best i could do.
The most important thing i did for my xxxt was install a hitec 925 servo, it has alot of torque and is very fast and takes a little time to get used to.but after i installed it the truck pushed real bad, it pushed before but it got worse.i just started messing with setups until i got it the way i wanted it. i also have ball bearing steering which i think helps the steering center more than any thing else.
what i have changed from the manual is:
Front:
on the bulkhead i have the ballstuds on the inside hole with 2 washers ,i have the shocks mounted on the very inside hole on top, i use 35wt losi oil,i have 1 degree of neg camber and 0 toe.
Rear:
The top of the shock is mounted on the 2nd hole from the outside with 30wt losi oil, i made an aluminum pivot plate for the rear with zero anti squat but i have it shimed at 1/2 degree.
The track is hard packed and i have been using bow ties on the rear and stock ribbed tires on front.
It doesn't sound like much but it made a very big diffrance for me, i just wish i was a better driver cause this truck is really stuck.

Whats yours maybe I'll see you around. I race novice but got bumped up to buggy stock. Look for me I am a short kid with Black hair you cant miss me. I race a XXcr kinwald edition. My body is all blue w/ 3 white stripes. What class do u race and how often to u go. Have I seen u there before I went to the Feb. 2000 trophy race and kicked all the adults butts. I was the kid that got bumped up because I ran too many laps for a novice race.

Hey Guys what should my first hop-ups be for my xxx? I am thinking titanuim turnbuckles and ball studs but dont know what exactly to get for that. What sizes etc. Also I am going to get some shiny CVDs. They are half off if I buy them with the xxx. Anything else?

Sounds cool dood, you are right on the money, but i am still running stock steel tie rods, never bent/broke one, but the Ti ball studs are needed, in the rear shock tower and the frint bulk head. Get the Long kind, that is all the Ti ball studs i am using. good luck with it!
LosiMan3456
12-22-2000, 09:24 PM
So all i need are the Ti ball studs nothing else? What is the difference between tie rods and turnbuckles.
XXXER
12-22-2000, 10:26 PM
Same thing, but i STRONGLY reccomend the ti tie rods, i am getting them as soon as i pony up some cash, Lunsford makes a hinge pin tie rod kit, that is what i am getting

Ok I finally have my XXX done. I am having my Body painted by my LHS. So I cant go to the track yet. I was driving it around in my house. The thing FLIES!!!! At first I would hit the gas and it would be really when I first hit the gas. then I forgot I loosened my slipper so I tightened it and then hit the gas and alsmost ran into a wall. It has awesome accel. I got my Duratrax ramp out and started jumping it. My mom got mad though because I left marks on the kitchen floor. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif This is what I have for electronics in it.

2400 pack with powerpole conectors

Hey same here! I have a 24t pinion and 82t spur. I also have a 21t or 22t and an 18t pinion. I might run my 22t in my XXX. Hey if u tighten up your slipper all the way how many turns do u have yours loosened? Also what does it sound like if your spur gear slips? I cant really hear it.

I just got a XXXT and XX4 about 2 1/2 weeks ago - this is my first RC kit, so it's taken me awhile to get things together. Just finished them both up over last weekend and I can't believe how fast the XXXT is! (haven't really run the XX4 yet)
Running:
Sanyo 2400NiCD Matched
Peak Spitfire (blueprinted)
Futaba Magnum Jr Tx & Rx
Novak Cyclone Prg ESC
18t Pinion (too low?? Rec. by LHS)

Ok I just sent the money off for a XXX with all kinds of upgrades - Graphite everything but chassis, full titanium tie rods, hinge pins, blue screws, assorted springs, threaded shock bodies, and an M8 radio, Cyclone ESC, and a bunch of matched 2000's. I already have a P2k, a Chrome modified 11x3, and some 2400's. Got rid of my T3 for it. Hope it's better.......

01-11-2001, 02:41 PM
Hey Yzard- The XX4 is awesome! I got the worlds kit and with a 11x3 its ballistic! But I had to get a novak xxl because it was glitchin from the graphite chassis..... but a xx4 and a xxx will look cool sitting together at the track.......... http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif
Yzard
01-11-2001, 02:57 PM
doublet - yeah, I just ran 3 feet of my carpet with the XX4 last night (checking the slipper) - and am anxious to head to a local dirt field to try it out tonight.
Your Novak glitched because of the chassis? I can't recall the ESC I bought (something 7.1) - are there steps I can take to minimize the interference I might get from the graphite chassis?
XX4 - D4 motor (9Turn Triple) - what does the 'Triple' mean??
Panasonic3000NiMH, JR radio (XR3), 17t Pinion
-Now If I can just keep from crashing into everything -

01-11-2001, 04:08 PM
Boys, a graphite composite chassis won't make your radio glitch, but a carbon fiber (or aluminum) chassis can. Don't worry about it Y____. Man, if you thought your truck was fast, just wait until you TRY to drive that XX-4, it's gonna fly! You've got some dang nice equipment, dude. I'm jealous. How much did all this crap cost?
BTW, I'm now the proud owner of a brand new XXXT. I can't wait to race it...

nairb - Our company got purchased and we all got nice bonus checks - and I spent a large portion of it on the kits/tools/radios/etc.. I had a grand ole' time shopping.
I'm anxious to practice up and hit the track (closest one is 30 miles away) - I'm nervous about starting as I don't want to be crashing into everyone <grin>
