Hi there,
I have just joined the site and wanted to say hello and happy new years first.
I have been playing around with RC equipment since years but it has never been a hobby for me.
Recently I got the CARBON BUTTERFLY from Plantraco (which I found by chance) I have been playing like a madman eversince. It also got me into RC (especially micro ones).
Since about 3 months I have invested considerable amount of money into RC planes (all of them are electric), RC Helis (also electric), Nitro and Electrick Cars and trucks and recently I have ordered a Kyosho Twinstorm 800 and I will be modifiying it with a new ESC and new motors.
But still my favorites are micro RCs.
I have ordered my 3rd carbo butterfly just before Christmas. These butterflies are really amazing, but they are also very very fragile. Well plantraco hobbies says that the carbon butterfly is very durable. Yes I agree it is more so than the normal butterfly made of balsa, but still even the carbon one is very fragile. I crashed the first one many times and with each crash things started to come off and I have made a lot of repairs on it. Finally I have destroyed the engine and since it is very difficult to connect a new engine to the .3gramm servo I have given up on it.
So I got my second one. By then I have really mastered flying the carbon butterfly. Too much confidence is a bad thing. So last sunday I have taken out my carbon butterfly out for a garden flight (which I wan not supposed to in the first place). It was very calm so I thought it would be ok, but a sudden gust of wind blew it into my swimming pool. Believe me the 3 gramm butterfly cannot float so I got it out and let it dry. It seems to work but cannot communicate with the transmitter anymore. I don't know what to do, so any info or help would be much appreciated.
So in the mean time I am looking forward to the 3rd shipment of the carbon butterfly.
Tha package is amazing. It comes fully built RTF in a steel case and the package contains a digital transmitter with a cable and connectivity software for the fligh sim. The Li-po battery is very durable and long lasting. The transmitter can be used to charge the battery as well.

Some time ago I have bout the picco Z. I did not like it because it could not do mcuh other than hover in the air and go up and down.
My search for a micro Heli ended up with finding the MICRON CX and V2. I loved the videos and I have ordered these 2 helis. I think they are the same thing almost but I wonder about the differences so placed the order for both of them.

I am getting addicted to this RC stuff.
I have a googleweb site. http://cenanesirtgen.googlepages.com , on this site (which is 100% non-commercial) I talk about my hobbies (photography and technology) I am also intending to make some space for my new RC hobby on my website, maybe I can write some reviews on some RC equipment.

Well, here I am...
Just wanted to say hello.
If you require any info on the carbon butterfly, please feel free to contact me.
cheers

That's a neat little bird! Welcome to the hobby, it can be addicting! Are you interested in getting any outdoor models?

Hi there,
Yes I am very very much interested in the outdoor models, and in fact I do have about 3 electric planes (like Cessne 182) and some beginner helis (like blade CX2) but my problem is space. I work in the city and live outside of it. So I have plenty of space around home, but it is also surrounded by lakes. LAst saturday I took my 3 planes and one heli out for flights and ended up with 2 planes swimming with the fishes and the heli caught a wind and I lost control of it and ended up crashing. I have destroyed the main shaft, so I will have to replace it.
I also do have a 3D 6 channel dragon fly heli, which I have never taken out of the box in fear of not being able to fly it.
So far my experiences with outdoor flying models have been bad. But I am pretty confortable with nitro cars and trucks (off road). I have recently ordered my electric kyosho twinstorm 800 boat and got some major modifications on it as well. I am very eager to try is, too.

As you can see my outdoor modeling hobby have been mostly made up of 30 second flights and lots of crashes. So I prefer the indoor micro flights at wich I am much better.

If you don't have the plantraco and if you are interested in slow flyers I would definitly recommend you to get the Carbon butterfly. It gives sitting around lazily a whole new meaning.

cheers,
