I am new the stuff, i want to learn to fly,
I have bought a Piper cub From hanger 9 i have a saito 80 in there, when i went to the air feild most of the guys said it was to hardto fly as a trainer.
So in a rush i went and got a V-mar Discovery 40 trainer ,with a OS max 46 ax engine , I have a Futaba T7Cap , Man is this radio complex,, My Question is , is there nicerlooking trainer with a easer radio till i get the hang of things in rtf or arf. form

thanks lawmart

Is electric a possibility? You can get some really easy to fly electric kits that come ready to fly out of the box. Backyard Flyer features many of these and I'd be happy to recommend a few.

If you can find a Goldberg Eagle 2 ARF, you'd be in business. Slap a .40 of you choosing and a simple 4-channel in it and you've got one of the best trainers ever made. Try asking around your club, a lot of guys have trainers they've outgrown in my club.

Here is the big question: Why are you buying these planes?

You are doing things backwards. Unfortunate but not uncommon.

First decide if you have an instructior. If you do, buy the plane they tell you to buy. Not confusion, no issues, no mistakes.

OR

If you are going to learn on your own, get an electric to self train. The Easy Star is super easy, super tough and super cheap.

Easy Star - RTF - $180 -
I believe this goes easily back in the box to keep in the car
Super tough foam. RTF comes with 72 MHz radio in the US.
Good parkflyer and a good glider
Radio in RTF package can be used to fly other planes

With the RTF everything is built, the radio is super simple to use and you can crash and crash and the plane will still fly.

Second, there is absolutely no need to buy a radio with each plane. Your Futaba 7C can fly any plane you choose. It can even fly the RTF Easy Star. I think this is your radio:

The 7C is not difficult to use at all. Just don't use the advanced features. Use it as a standard 4 channel radio. ( Just as you can drive a car without knowing all the features of the stereo system )

All you need is servo reverse ( maybe ) to get the servos moving in the right direction. Use sub trim ( maybe ) to get the servos centered AFTER you adjust them mechanically. That is all you need to use. Those are the features you would have on the most basic standard radios. Add dual rates if you like. Forget the rest till you are an accomplised pilot.

Of course if you get the RTF Easy Star, all of this is already done. Charge the battery, read the instructions, go fly.

Finally, read this thread on self training

You are making this MUCH harder than it really has to be. ;)

Stick with your 7C radio, it has features that will help you fly, like exponential and dual rates. Once you learn how to use it, it will make it easier for you to set up your airplane with features like sub trim, trim memory, and ATV. And it will remember your airplane and its settings.

Any trainer will do. Hobbico, PT-40 and the like are more forgiving airplanes. The one you have will do. Not the cub it is a bit advanced for you yet. Get a similator to fly on your computer, it will teach hand/eye coordination. Plenty of crash that reset automatically and so. And if you get the right similator, you might be able to use your 7C with it.

Cheers,

Chip
