Hey, guys. So, I purchased a fegaio 540C8XL motor to use with my Mamba Max ESC. I looked on the castle site and read that the connectors on the ESC are 4mm, so I also purchased some new 4mm connectors along with the motor.

So I received the stuff and I'm having a problem - the wires coming off of the motor are collectively much too thick to fit within the end of the 4mm connector where they should. So I guess my question is, what's the best thing to do here? should I get like 5mm or 6mm connectors, and change them out on my mamba max? I will be switching the ESC between cars.. one with the castle 5700KV motor and the car with this 540CXL, so I'd have to change teh connectors on all of the motors. Or, could I possibly snip a few strands/windings off of the very end of the wire so that I can fit at least some of the wires within the connector, and the solder it really good everywhere? or, should I just use a butt the two together and add solder between them? Of course for strength, I would either go thr route of changing all of my connectors, or trimming the strands to fit within the connector and soldering it well. The only reason I wouldn't trim it is because you're not supposed to trim the wires, correct? Thanks, guys.

What I do is take some short pieces of 12ga. wire and solder them into the 4mm plugs. Then, I solder the 12ga. wire to the windings of the motor.

Just don't cut the windings.

That would work I suppose. I also may just do a butt-joint. Thanks! That's good enough. I just wanted to make sure I couldn't trim them at all. I'd realy rather not replace all of my plugs, so I'll just do either what you said, or do a butt-joint. Thanks!

You can possibly compress them to get them to fit.

Next time you buy the bullet connectors ask what size wire they fit, there are ones made to handle the larger gauge wire. You could also use some nice flexible 12 gauge wire extensions, this is what I've always done with the Hacker C40 series.

Otherwise the NEU 6mm bullet plugs are really nice. I use them on my mm + 7XL.

I cut 1" pieces of 12g wire, soldered the plugs on to them, then soldered the wires to the motor like tcolesen mentioned. It works really well. They look perfect.

yea the good quality 12 guage is also much more flexible so you dont need to fiddle with the shrink tubing as much now jeff!
