Id go with the ni-mh they are a little more expensive. If you go for the ni-cd then you will have problems when they ban them in a few years then you will end up buying the ni-mh anyway. Go for the ni-mh and a Peak charger like the Dinamite Vision Peak it is only 40$ and I think the batteries run from 40$-120$

I'd go with the NiCd's. The ban on them probably won't occur for about a decade at least, they are much easier to use, less finicky and they last longer than 100-200 charges as it appears NiMH's do. You should be able to get 700-1000 charges out of a well maintained 2000mah NiCd. NiCd's have more punch and power, and unless you are running a 12 turn or hotter motor in a 5 minute offroad race you don't need NiMH's. I still run a 12x3 in a 4wd buggy offroad and I have time left over after a 5 minute race with my 2400mah NiCd pack.

Go with the NicD. I highly doubt they will be baned soon. I have Both and I like the NicD better. The NiMh u have to babysit. It is just a waste of your time

I heard it on this mb a month or so ago. They said like 2003 or so they might MIGHT be banning ni-cd because of recycling problems. Probably ban them in 50 years though.... http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Until Nimh and Li-on technology inproves by leaps and bounds Nicds will be around for a long time to come.
According to the battery industry as a whole, not just this little small and minute niche of R/C, Nicds will still be in use for at least 10 to 15 years.
Too many problems with Nimh and Lion right now will prevent Nicds from going away. hospitals use nicads in portable machines, among many other industries, and they will not switch to any other battery power until it is proven to be as powerful and reliable as the Nicds are.
BTW Nicds are completely recyclable, it just costs more, but is done none the less.
