Rally car owners, what kit do you like and why? I think I'd like one. The track I race at is trying to generate interest and get the class going.
(Review of HPI kit said it runs hot which concerns me, but it otherwise looks good.)

Just as the Texan said. Best rally car ive driven. Get the RRP layshaft and a slipper clutch, and your HPI is near bullet proof. Though stay away from gravel-gets into the tranny and shreds the rear belt!
I used a Trinity D4 10*1 in mine, and as long as you let it cool after each run, you can use the inner body.

The TC3 has a rally conversion kit coming soon if it isn't already out. I plan on getting a TC3 w/ the rally kit for the summer. I like the fact that the TC3 has a shaft drive so you dont have to worry about fouling belts going off road. You'll never have to replace belts or worry about skipping belts. There are lots of advantages with the shaft drive.

I own a HPI RS4 Rally, great kit. You have an unlimited amount of replacement parts and hop-ups. I had problems with the top layshaft but have replaced with a one peice from Robinson Racing Products, You can tell a difference right away. Of course it's personal preference. It will run a little hot, but depends on the motor. Stock motors no problem, mod motors, you may not want to put on the inner shell. And you may want to checkout this website; http://www.rcrally.com , gives you a lot of information and some pretty awsome pictures. Good luck. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/cool.gif

Hey everybody, thanks for all the great info.
HPI - Do they offer the slipper? What is a layshaft?
TC3 - A guy at my track had the conversion kit box in hand. I like the idea of shaft drive also. They were commenting on the TC3 breaking ( speaking of the regular road versin ) some parts easily; any comments on that?

Any option you can think of, two-speed, slipper, one-ways, sway bars, etc...
The layshaft is the part on most electric 4WD cars where the front and rear belts are attached to a pulley connected to a "shaft". A better clarification, look at one othe advertisments for HPI product and look at the spur gear, it has a shaft you'll have two pulleys and two belts.
If you really want to know what it looks like buy the HPI RS4 Rally, it will even give you instructions on how to put it together. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
