View Full Version : 700 bb on 22v???? will it fry???

The titel says it all, if I run 2 lipo 3s packs on a 700 bb 8.4v will it fry it?

Well as cheap as that motor is try it. It won't be a Greek tragedy if it exhibits the tell tale white smoke.

Several things will happen even if you use a much smaller prop than you'd use on 12 volts. The higher voltage will heat up the windings, eventually melting off the insulation and causing a short. The comm will get very hot and distort, causing brush bounce, arcing and more heat and damage. The very high rpm that the motor will see on 22 volts is far more than the bushings were designed for, so even more heat. The only questions are - "How long will it last?" and "What will fail first?" :huh:

I would run it on the 3s pack and a high pitched prop.
