I was just wondering what kinda of extra materials do you add to the inside of the body for racign and stuff...
ive seen many bodies with special tape, some fiber stuff and other with foil and stuff and just wondering what exactly is the best thing to do to keep the body in good shape when racing?
thanks

Ben,...if you want to add some rigidity to it, look for the areas on the body prone to damage....the mounting holes, the front end, or wherever you might suspect cracking or tearing will occur. Drywall tape and shoe goo will make a bond that is incredibly strong for the body, just dont go overboard on application. I have saved many bodies using this method.

best thing to do is put some shoe Glue around where body post goes thru.. that and have a good supply of bodies for race day ..

Well id rather not bash the hell out of one because the paint and body are expensive, the body that i paint and spend lots of time on id like to keep for at least one season...
so on a buggy places where i could put tape on are:
area around the pipe
the roof (splash guard rubs)
the nose as its think
radio box are and servos as the servo link may rub..
and on a truggy?
pipe are a again....

you can put aluminum tape to keep the heat of the pipe from deforming the body reinforce any known week points with a thin coat of shoe goo and some drywall tape (not the paper tape for joints you want the fiber tape for cracks), reinforce the body mount holes with shoe goo and precut rings of the drywall tape, that will help hold the body together thru many tumbles.

I wait till a sunny day, snap some pics of the body, than back the inside with Krylon crystal clear.

I shoo-goo a small donut of scrap lexan inside the body at each post hole. Make the scrap piece and then use a paper punch to get a nice smooth hole for the post. If the scrap piece touches the post tighter than the body hole, the scrap will absorb some of the abuse before the actual body.
Another method I see use a lot is to make the front post holes round, and make the back holes slotted front to back. This allows the body to float during a crash or landing jumps, when the chassis flexes. The paint around the slots will wear first, but you can use cushion washers on the posts.
