I'm finding my tire foam is breaking down (wearing down) rather rapidly even with 6 cells on a MM4600 (all off road). I tried the proline ultrafirm with my swamp dawgs and didn't last me very long (stampede). I'm curious with some of you running higher cell counts, are you going thru foam faster and have you found a more durable foam ?

My tires usually go bald before my foams break down :D

I use trinity extra firm foams in my dirt hawg tires for my xxx4 and the combo is pretty solid. It's really the tire that protects the foam. Tires with no support are harder on the foams.

Trinity grey foams hold up better than most others... that's all we use in offroad most of the time. They don't break down after a few runs like the stock yellow foam.

I wonder how the molded foam inserts would do instead of the typical foam donut.
Rims with Presta valves will be the next big thing in r/c .

Try the Panther premolded truck foams. You did not say what kind of RC you are using, but I assumed it to be a 2wd 1/10th scale truck. They make the premolded foams for most off road RCs.

thanks for the info.
I found these two references below to trinity foams, is it the 1st one (gray) or the 2nd one (blue) ?
Just curious if anyone has actually used both the PL ultra and Trinity as a comparison ?

I have found the Pro-Line grey to be stiffer than the Trinity Grey and the Trinity Blue to be stiffer than the Pro-Line blue.

The Panther Pre molded truck foams are stiffer and denser foam than even the Trinity Blue foam. You may have to belt sand the center of the foam to get the rounded tread look out of it.

The difference between the Trinity and the Proline is that the Trinity lasts longer... doesn't break down as fast as some others.
Some of the newer molded foams look really good, but I (we) haven't been running them for years, so I can't say....

thanks everyone for the input. I will check out the Trinity ultra hard. Just curious, has anyone ever tried taping a layer of duct tape around the outer surface of the foam (sticky side touching foam) as an interface to possibly reduce the abrasion ? It is still pliable and can be folded enough to insert into the tire intact. (I'm aware of people doing somewhat the reverse to keep tires from ballooning, but I'm talking about taping to the foam ).

I haven't heard anyone try that before, no...

I've heard of people putting ductape on the inside of the tire. It keeps the tires from balooning.

SpeedBL, thanks, yes I mentioned that in my post.

I did try the tape around the foam (sticky on foam) for the fronts and seems like it is adding some extra life to them.
