One of the best budget setups, hands down:
Great bang for your buck, and one-stop shopping from rc-monster.com if you want.
Feigao/Wanderer 8XL
Mamba Max and a UBEC device
$230
(2) 2s 6000 Maxamps packs
$180
5mm pinion gear
$10
Another good option for an emaxx is the Feigao 540c 9L which has the standard size 1/8" shaft so you don't need expensive pinions. It's even a bit cheaper than the XL motors and it works very well also.

The 540C-9L has a 5mm shaft. I have a few smooth can 9L's with 1/8" shaft on special with esc and bec though.

With proper gearing (not geared for 60mph) and 'normal" conditions... "we" are getting about 20 minutes from 6000mah. 15 minutes would be the least I can imagine. But we don't all run the same motors... I run Neu 1512/1515 motors for example.
Actually some of us are getting a little better than that. I think I could make 30 min with my 8000mah packs on my local small track... but I have yet to actually try it.

If you're charging at a 1C rate (which for an 8000mah lipo pack, is 8 amps), about 1hr 15mins or so.

Yes, lipos charge in about 1 hour if the charger can put out a high enough amp rate, as ET said.... 8amps for a 8000mah pack.
An 14.8v 8000mah lipo pack usually has 8 cells total... in a 4s2p configuration. That means it's made from 4000mah cells that are paralleled to get 8000mah, times four sets of these to get the 14.8 volts.
A couple years ago before it was common to have large capactiy cells, it would normally be made from 2000mah cells.... 16 total.
Some packs now are 1p... like maxamps 10,000mah packs made from 10,000mah cells.
Maxamps has a good variety of packs to choose from. They can do anything you can dream up. I have a 4s 12000mah pack for my truggy.
A charger like the Duratrax ICE or MRC 989 can charge at 8 amps so these are good choices.
