Hey guys , i just bought a Tamiya F350 kit. I really have only one question.. some of the parts are chrome finish, Can i simply just paint these or do I need to sand/rough them up so the paint will stick.. ?
ps. RespirologyRC i'm gonna paint this one myself as i'm only going with two colors trying to keep it factory looking.. But on the other hand a custom Suckfish on the hood might look cool..

DO NOT SCUFF where you will paint chrome. Every little scratch will show up.
Just make sure to get it really clean, then spray your chrome.

You want to paint the chrome parts? If this is your wish, and the entire part is chrome and you want to paint the entire part, you can give it a good coat of EZ Off and this will take the chrome off. Then you can paint.

Well on some that is exactley what I want. But on some I wanted to add black next to the chrome..

If you have a steady hand you can scrape away some of the chrome where you want the paint. I also recommend you use enamel paint as it seems to stick better on that type of plastic. You don't have to scrape away the chrome if it is in a hard to reach area as I have had great success with just painting over the chrome, but that is also on model cars which just sit there and are not meant to be played with.
I sprayed Tamiya fine primer then Fasblack on ours.
