It's been snowing all weekend long... so I decided to paint up another fire r/c body. It's a Mazda 6 190mm by Pro-Line Racing. Decided to try a different color behind the flames instead of the typical black, came up with a burgandy color.

Fester, I would give it a try. Are you trying or using any candy colors? I do it all together differently and learning each and every time I do a body.

General have you ever thought about doing a body where the flames are like enclosed by lines and shapes and have the great contrast between the vage, blurry flames against the sharp edges of line and flat colours? it would be awesome.

i hate to be the ass here, especially as its a killer paint job, but you could have done a better job on the masking

balang -- he is doing "true fire" or "real fire". I don't think a heavy line or shape is meant to enclose the flames. If you are talking about a rip or a layer peeling away and flames under there/in there, that could be cool.
hellbilly -- outside of the General not cutting out window frames and painting them (which would give the bodies a clean finished look), what was sloppy? If you are talking about the headlights/grill, I think this is first attempt at trying to duplicate lights like Aldus does. Plus it looks like he tried to make his own masks. Maybe he should use liquid mask to get details like this masked exactly on the molded lines. I give him credit. I have tried it but mine stunk...lol!
My only problem is the base color is too close to the flame colors and they "get lost" on the body. I think his flames are getting better with every job he does and it is cool to see painters progress on these boards. I think constructive comments allow us all to grow.

the windows look like crap, considering the high degree of the paint job. plain and simple. no, i cant paint a body like this, i'll be the first to admit it, but i cut a better window mask than that

ok that was a drunk comment. i apologize. i've slept a few hours now and wonder why the painter didnt use the mask that should have been included with the body

what's wrong with the window masking job?? Only thing I can tell is the lack of window trim being painted except for the side windows.
Good job BTW!
