Hello,

I'm an rc newbie from Portugal. I'm thinking on buying a plane. What i like the most is the Aerobatic & 3D planes.

I found a couple of e-commerce websites and choose a couple of planes according to my budget and size of the plane (EDGE540 EP, E-Flite Mini FuntanaX and Great Planes Yak 54 3D EP).

I allready found peakmodel, horizon hobby, electrify, hobby lobby's and model motors.

Could anyone give more references or advices? Should I choose another plane? etc...

Best Regards,

Ricardo

Hello Ricardo,
If you really are a newbie with no flying experience, these attractive aerobatic airplanes would be far too responsive for your lack of reflexes, and would crash very quickly. The appropriate route into flying RC is through a trainer that can handle considerable abuse and still keep working. One of the more succesful would be the GWS Slow Stick by way of example. This approach would allow you to "graduate" into a fancier model using the same equipment that was in your trainer.
Good luck, Dave

ye man you need to start off with a trainer 3Ds are way to responsive. plus trainers are usily not as bad on the pocketbook. ps have fun flying.

I have to agree with the others. Starting on a highly aerobatic plane is not a good plan. There are rare individuals who can start on those planes, and if you have lots of money and can afford to destroy a lot of planes, you could be one of them.

Even if your instructor can fly planes like that, typically he will want you to start on a trainer. After all, that is why they call them trainers.

There is no Beginner section on this forum, so go to the parkflyer section and read the posts on first planes and trainers.
