I have never Heard of anyone trying it. I have a gtb and I wouldnt try it. Too much money to flush down the tubes. Just my $.2

The ESC probably CAN handle it...but if you do that, your warranty just got flushed down the pooper. The GTB/velociti motors should be plenty fast and plenty powerful on 6 good NiMH cells or a good 2s lipo.

Ok...
I need to change the battery...
LRP hyper pack 4000mah 8.4 volt -> IB4200HV matched race cell from muchmore (15 dollars more expensive.)

The IBs are amazing. I just got two IB4200 side by side packs from promatch about a week ago (mind you, mine aren't matched, so that has to say something about the batteries!). They're outstanding! You'll be more than happy with their performance I would say. They'd probably blow that 7 cell pack out of the water.:D

Hes not kidding! I went from cheap 3000mah "Venom" stick packs to 3300mah matched GPs for my 4.5 and it rips in my XXXT.
Dont expect any wheelies because of the "soft start" programed into the GTB. But it takes off like a rocket!!! It rips the 2.2 speed hawgs tires loose a bit at mid RPM to full throttle. You will deff. have fun. :D
I just orderd a Maxamps 6000mah 2S lipo, low volt. cutoff and I cant waite to see what that will do  . I just finally decided I wont run it in the street anymore since I snapped the chassis in 1/2 going into a curb at F.T. :p

True, but don't bother buying from Much More, their prices are ridiculous on those packs. Try someone like SMC instead, you'll get a strong pack for a LOT less cash.....

The GTB ESC's have a 6 cell limit. I wouldn't recommend going beyond the manufactures stated limits...
