I picked up a used BC112C charger and have been doing some research on the charging unit. I use Panasonic 3000mAh matched NiMH batteries. I have read somewhere that there are firmware upgrades available to bring a charger to the level required to be accurate for peak charging NiMH's. My question is, HOW do I find out what firmware version I'm using? It has P, P2, CS, Timer, as different types of charge methods.

When the charger FIRST turns on, it will display a letter and a number, like H28 or something.

Anything with H27 or later (H28, H28, H29...) has the capability of charger NiMH batterys, earlier ones couldn't do it safely. As far as upgrading it, it basically requires buying a new charger. Tekin doesnt offer upgrades as far as I know.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Tekin went out of business. I've tried calling their office quite a few times in the last few weeks, and no answer. Not even an answering machine.

Can anyone confirm this?

It may not be so bad, there is also a company called Express Tech that can do the work too(they were formed by former Tekin personnel). I don't remember their number or email addy, but I'm sure someone here should still have it, or failing that someone who frequents Trinity's BB will remember..... :)

From your description I can tell your charger is the older firmware. The current one will have P0 P1 P2 and CS. I suggest you follow the Express Tech. threads and it to them to get it updated.

I know they used to update them, but I don't know whether Express Tech does or not. I'd say there's a pretty good chance they will. Give them a call.
The other thing you may consider would be to get a newer 112a & run it from your 112c. Of course would only make sense if you had a need to charge 2 packs at once. Joe
