Answer your self two questions. How much money do you have to spend, and what do you intend to do with the car? Those two questions would determine if either the 4-TEC or TC3 RTR is the right car for you.

I had one, and I wouldn't recommend it. Of course, I didn't put bearings in it or anything. The steering wasn't too great and the handling wasn't that great either. I do think it would make a good beginner car though. I switched to a Street Weapon and what a huge difference in performance...or everything could have been in my head :) My friend has the TC3 and he tried my 4tec before he bought that one. He same to the same conclusions. Save up and get a better one is my suggestion.

ive got a 4-tec and i like it. I hear the tc3's go thru parts. In the two years of (hard) driving i dont think ive ever broken a part. (chassis is a little scratched tho..)

Well, my 4-TEC is hopped up with the following:

Trinity Monsters of Touring 17 Turn Double
XTM Forward/Brake ESC
Full ball bearing set (including steering bell cranks, 16 in all)
Robinson Racing 28 tooth pinion
LOSI Springs
OFNA wheels w/HPI Racing slicks
Pro-Line GT40 190MM body

I would pit this car against any TC3 RTR. With all the hopups (which were a blast to install), the car prices out to the same as the TC3 RTR; that also includes and additional Trinity Green Machine Pro 3 for Stock class racing and a 30 tooth pinion.
The car flies!!!!

We all have to start somewhere...besides, you can sell the 4tec and get a new car later one.

well my first car was a TC3 and it wasn't a RTR...but i must say...it's never really the car sometimes it's the driver...so whatever you get..just give it some time and it will feel like the car you love....usually.....
