You mean to tell me that E/T-MAXXes don't come in a kit version?
If that's true, I think I understand now why the level of hatred of *-MAXXes by the "seasoned" R/C circles exists.
How the heck's a newbie going to learn about his rig if he doesn't put it together? And I'm sure those things have a LOT that can go wrong with them...

Happy with his 10GT, and yes it was a kit

MtnKodiak,
I'm one of those seasoned R/C people. I originally had that feeling towards RTR and MAXXes when it came out. Builders can't learn about it, things always break and they won't be able to fix, yadda yadda yabba dabba doo. After seeing TMAXXes in action and seeing the obvious popularity of them, I bought an EMAXX. Wow. What a great kit ... oh, not kit, truck. ;) My feelings towards RTR have changed since, the key issue here being after I purchased an RTR. As the saying goes, "don't knock it til you try it".
One reason I think TRAXXAS can provide great customer service for RTR kits is that they can have a large degree of confidence that their trucks were built and adjusted correctly, or at least more consistantly since it was done under their control. That eliminates a huge chunk of problems that come about due to improper assembly. Using wrong screw, wrong length screw, over tightening, parts forced too hard into place, forgot to install bumpers or structurally vital components, yabba dadda doo.

Don't a lot of people that buy the Maxxes already have radio equipment? And if so, what do they do with the Traxxas radio?

All the RTR's I have seen come with a complete "builders manual" so you could take it apart screw by screw and put it back together again if you felt it would make you a better modeler, LOL :D

T and E MAXXes use 3 channel radios, not everyone with an RC car have 3 channel setups... I know I dont.

well even though i would REALLY like a kit, i guess i could settle with an ARR, A KO Mars, Would that work in place of the Traxxxas radio?
