Hey all i`m completly new to the new technology for r/c cars these days. I `m having problems getting my new mamba 6800kv for the mini lst to respond quickly. It starts off really slow then speeds up a bit then kicks in hard. I have set the punch control 50% 70% and 100 % with the same resaults. when i first got it it had no throttle curve so i set it to default linear but it wont even drive in the grass only on a flat surface. Can anybody help me?
thanks in advance.

Sounds like you need to gear down on the pinion.

u might be right i`m using the stock pinion right now it seems like it has enough torque i would think though.

Your punch control is also too high... Turn off the punch control and see what happens. What's the start power at too?

Are you running NiMH or Lipoly? Do you know what the voltage cutoff is set to?

i`m running the stock nimh with no voltage cut off

did you change the connectors? If not switch to Dean's. Stock connectors can't handle the current the speed control requires.

I just put a maxamps lipo 2S 4000mAh bat after using some 3300mAh nimh i got of ebat....even on my brushed set up its light and day different.
Are your batteries getting hot? Mine were almost too hot to hold comfortably. The LiPo is hardly warm.

I dont know how hot the battery gets after a few minutes its hot but not too hot to hold. I havent driven it enough to know because it sux right now. are there tuning setups i can download to test it? I mean the thing doesnt get full power til after 3 seconds of full trigger. I`m thinking of getting the 3s lipo with dean connectors maybe the nimh doesnt carry enough punch? i dont know.
Never modified electrics before so this is all new to me. I`m used to bashing a stock super and king blackfoot from back in the day. The technology changes the past 7 years has been ridiculous.

Did you turn the punch control off....? I've noticed with my mamba max, that when punch control is even set to 30%, it doesn't get a kick in the pants until after about 1/2-1 foot.
The stock NiMH battery for the mini-LST probably also isn't up to the current draw of a mamba 6800 system either (or at least isn't near optimal for a brushless system).
So....it's between the batteries and punch control. I suggest getting a better battery pack first. Then mess with punch control.

It turned out to be that the nimh didnt pack the low end punch that the lipo puts out. I got a 3s lipo and the thing is a rocket now. Thanks for all the help.

Glad you got it sorted. I was thinking of going brushless, as I was diappointed with my brushed setup (I have never run not electric srtips before my current car), I figured my bats were telling me that weren't happy due to the temps....so instead of going brushless (which would have had the same problem) i got a 2S 4000mAh maxamp lipo. Everything is much better now. So much so that I have to careful not to set gearing too hiogh, I got some smoke out of my 11 turn when I tried it on the same gearing I was running my 15 on hehe..it was a tad warm, brush wires discoloured. The lipo has enough grunt to get things rel hot if not careful. I have the 15 back in now.....but I have since ordered a MM 5700 setup :).....now the battery will cope.....I seem to be compulsed to find the next weakest link lol....probably my tyre glueing and gears lol.

It would be nice to hit 50 mph that every1 says it will hit but i cant find a pinion gear for the rear gearbox to hold upto this power. I bent the pinion shaft when i was gonna speed test it. I was just pullin a wheelie and the sucker started goin front wheel drive on me lol. Those gears are hardened steel

flip....sounds brutal....can't wait for mine to arrive in that case then lol...although I hope my gears hold up :)

I suggest u use a dual slipper or atleast the stock slipper with a 60 tooth spur.
Reason i tore my metal gears up is because I was running the hot racing power up slipper eliminater which was good for modified brushed motors but u need to absorb some of that power. I hit 50 with the stock gear ration but i geared it lower with a 60 tooth spur and a 15 tooth pinion idk how fast it runs with that yet. too much snow outside to try it now.
